A return to form after the (IMO) major hiccup of The Great Escape; Blur were wise enough to turn their backs on Britpop, as that scene disintegrated, to take on a more alt-rock approach, the result being an album that consist of some of their strongest work (particularly Beetlebum, my favourite song of 1997). Kind of the aural equivalent of me running down Sidney Street in Cambridge and loudly bellowing "I spit on you and your one-dimensional, meagre verse-chorus-verse structures! Spit!". Which I never did, although plenty of times in my mind. [First added to this chart: 05/17/2017]

Yes, they took inspiration from Laibach (to put it generously), but to be perfectly honest, Laibach were never this good or as funny. [First added to this chart: 05/17/2017]

When I bought this at Our Price, the bloke in the queue in front of me gave me a rather sheepish look as he clutched his three copies of Candle In The Wind. [First added to this chart: 07/06/2017]
