Nostalgic dream sequence, but it's an album

Common As Light And Love Are Red Valleys Of Blood - another excellent, albeit a more challenging listen
Perils From The Sea - a masterpiece by Jimmy LaValle and Kozelek. Somehow the Wonder of Life Prevails is the most uplifting song Kozelek's ever written

(Disclaimer: Kozelek's been involved in multiple nasty accusations, I would advise against streaming or buying his music)

THE most underrated underground rapper of the last 10 years.

Brick Body Kids Still Daydream - not as hilarious and fun, it has some great social commentary delivered in the standard OME style

Aura is just the right amount of lofi. I'm pretty sure the Celts didn't have HQ in the 13th century anyways.

Guardians - just as incredible, if a bit less lofi
Forgotten Paths - a bit too brief, the most accessible and still fantastic

Nature themed ambient microhouse, can't get better than this

LNLNN - in the same tier, but it's half the length (and apparently an EP, even though it's 38 minutes)

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.3/100, a mean average of 89.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.9.

What's not to love about this chart ~ with only one album in common, this chart takes me so deep outside my comfort zone. While my musical journey into the uncharted waters of this chart hasn't changed my preferences, I have enjoyed the detour. This is the type of chart that makes me appreciate the diversity of the BEA membership. Really cool to see 5 albums from Australia!

Hey corenfro, thanks a lot! The Kozelek (and Burzum and Kanye etc.) discussion is a nuanced one, but my stance is that separating art from the artist is completely valid. Though it gets tricky with Kozelek since his lyrics are so personal. Then again, I'm always going to warn people about his behaviour and advise against streaming his music and/or buying merch. The way I see it, there's no reason you shouldn't enjoy a nice pirated copy of Benji if you're aware of the context. I've got no problem with people boycotting his music completely, either.

Seen your chart and read your comments for years. You really know your music. I imagine you must be conflicted putting Benji as your #1 given your comments. I really like the creativity and balance of your selections.
