Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Daydreamer Unknown

A rough prototype, there are many albums which would definitely be in my top 100 but I didn't know where to place them so I will be adding them as soon as I figure out where they should be.

Also I by no means think these albums are the greatest using some objective criteria, more like 100 best albums ever according to my tastes and opinions. Enjoy :)

Cold and distant, yet resonating within every modern man in a modern world. This is what are feelings sound like in this era, or maybe a better way to describe it is the lack of feelings along with isolation. It continues where Ok Computer left of, but it's definitely more extreme and challenging. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

If Revolver was the revolution in sound and songwriting, Sgt Pepper's was the revolution considering albums. How many albums felt as a whole entity other than just a collection of songs before this one? Not many. But when they released this one everyone wanted to make albums like this one. Other than massive historical importance, you can't deny the quality of the songs, with iconic Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds and A Day In The Life leading the pack. A chaotic mess that is somehow very touching and beautiful. Tom Waits creates a crazy mix of blues, cabaret, piano balladry, rock and much more and combines it with his surreal lyrics and his incredibly distictive voice. Everything about his music is at its peak on this album, the true soundtrack of broken desperate people from the gutter. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Quite hard to pin down what exactly makes this album so great. But the answer probably lies somewhere in the fact that this album represents the struggles of modern young adult in this chaotic world. That feeling of disillusionment with the world coupled with the nostalgic reminiscing of the youthful and more hopeful times hits really hard. The album is so consistently good and has no weak songs, but the only thing lacking is one or two absolutely killer songs which would make it totally perfect. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

The release of this album was problematic since Bruce was involded in some legal battles following the success of Born To Run. Incidentally, the themes in this album are a big turn from the romanticism of of Born To Run. The songs are mostly more pesimistic and realistic, like the characters from Born To Run were now broken by the hard realities of life. The sound itself follows this change by being much more rock sounding a raw. Gone are the jazz influences from his first 3 album. As an optimist myself, I'll always prefer Born To Run but something about this album makes it seem much more real. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

This is where everything fell in the right place for Dire Straits. They've made their sound bigger and the songs more ambitious, which is best seen on the phenomenal opening 14min track Telegraph Road. Knopfler's lyricism is often underlooked because of his other qualities but it truly shines here. With just 5 songs it doesn't overstay its welcome and keeps the same high quality throughout [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

A solid number of fans were dissapointed with this sophomore album because it was such a drastic change of style, but the americana and heartland rock infulenced proved to be a great match for The Killers. Themes and imagery are almost Springsteenian and they fit nicely with Flowers' nearly hysterical delivery (again a big change from the debut). One thing that hasn't changed, though, is their ability to write incredibly catchy melodies and big choruses. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

The most cohesive Queen record, the songs flow perfectly into one another and it all feels like a giant song. You can say that for most progressive albums but they're not nearly as fun as Queen, nor are their songs as versatile. Here they discovered their campy and flamboyant side, and combined with the dark sound of the first two albums and the result is Queen at its best. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.3/100, a mean average of 90.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.0.

The further towards 100 you go the more unique and interesting it gets IMO. Seems we have a lot in common, though I maybe skew a little more recent.

Good chart! Was nice seeing Innuendo and Bone Machine on here mixed in with tons of highly rated albums. Innuendo is easily one of Queens best and most underrated songs.
