Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Daydreamer Unknown

A rough prototype, there are many albums which would definitely be in my top 100 but I didn't know where to place them so I will be adding them as soon as I figure out where they should be.

Also I by no means think these albums are the greatest using some objective criteria, more like 100 best albums ever according to my tastes and opinions. Enjoy :)

Pink Floyd followed The Dark Side Of The Moon with another masterpiece, this time inspired by Syd Barret's descent into madness. Only five tracks, but all great. A true progressive meditative and truly heavenly beautifull music with some really timeless songs. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Released before Let It Be but recorded after. That makes this truly the great swan song of the greatest band ever. More cohesive than any other Beatles album, Abbey Road also sees George Harrison writing probably the best songs on the album which makes it so special because you have 3 great songwriters in their prime. Doesn't get much better than this. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Few bands are as diverse and versatile as Queen. They always put different styles even with a single albums. First 5 songs are completely different yet they flow into each other effortlessly. They were really on top of their game here - dramatic, over the top and glamorous. Of course, having the best song of all time here doesn't hurt either. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Dylan was never the one to expose himself, but he does it to an extent. Written during separation from his wife Sara, we know finally see intimate feelings of the great man behind the myth. He of course denies, but you don't know Dylan if you believe that. Here he is at his most desperate. Perhaps no other album is better described by its name than this one. An absolutely amazing farewell by one of the greatest artists ever. Bowie took his iminent death and turned it into art. He also stayed true to himself and created a completely new like he has done so many times in the past. This album is full of jazz influences and incorporates some electronic elements which give it quite a unique sound. But you can really feel the eerie atmosphere in those songs, and when you know that Bowie did it knowing it was his last thing, then you know why it sounds like a that. Bob Dylan's epic double album, described by him as the one where he got closest to "thin mercury sound" he had in his head, is also where Dylan is the most free, imaginative and off the leash. The songs are full of colorfull surreal imagery and you get a feeling that the he could go on forever and never run out of things to say. Musically it is an improvement over Highway 61 as it has more soul influences and overall a gentler sound (harmonica isn't so piercing and guitars sound mellower) which make is probably his best album musically. However, his singing is at it's absolute wildest here and it will definitely be a bit too much for those not accustomed to his singing. But for those who are it will be an incredible treat. One of the biggest compliments I heard about this album is when I realised some of my friends were convinced this was a greatest hits compilation. The greatest debut of all time and really no other Pearl Jam album comes close (and this comes from a guy who really likes them). Eddie Vedder's voice is so full of passion and his lyricism honest and intricate. Also the sound here is very 70's classic rock influenced and has less of those punky songs they wrote on later albums. Highlight of the whole grunge era. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

It's so long that it's massive, over the top and self-indulgent, yet it's a total masterpiece. Why? Well simply put Roger Waters poured everything that was in his troubled soul in this album, he bared himself to the bone. So that makes this a very powerful and emotional listen. Of course, having other PF members who are all top notch musicians doesn't hurt either. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.3/100, a mean average of 90.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.0.

The further towards 100 you go the more unique and interesting it gets IMO. Seems we have a lot in common, though I maybe skew a little more recent.

Good chart! Was nice seeing Innuendo and Bone Machine on here mixed in with tons of highly rated albums. Innuendo is easily one of Queens best and most underrated songs.
