Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Daydreamer Unknown

A rough prototype, there are many albums which would definitely be in my top 100 but I didn't know where to place them so I will be adding them as soon as I figure out where they should be.

Also I by no means think these albums are the greatest using some objective criteria, more like 100 best albums ever according to my tastes and opinions. Enjoy :)

The album were Roger Waters took control over Pink Floyd, this is probably their most progressive album with 3 out of 5 songs being 10+ minutes long. Also the change in overall sound is evident since there are no more dreamy soundscapes of Dark Side Of The Moon and With You Were here but a more biting, rougher rock sound. Richard Wright's keyboards are not nearly as prominent here. The whole album is inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm and Waters again writes some pretty great lyrics on the subject. There is something otherwordly about this record. The instruments, arrangements, Van Morrison's vocals and stream of consciousness lyrics all make this ethereally beautiful and mystical. I can honestly say that there isn't an album remotely similar to this one, nothing creates quite the same atmosphere. Van Morrison never reaches these heights again but even if he hadn't done anything else, this one is more than enough to make him one of the greats. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

The fourth album from these hard rock giants sees them at the top of their game. They've started experimenting a bit more and expanding their sounds and Plant's lyrics really reached new heights with Stairway To Heaven. This is great rocking album, which also happens to be extremely creative and diverse. Trademark Zepp. Also the fact that it does feature one of the most universally acclaimed songs ever doesn't hurt either. Pure Gold. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Even though he wrote some great songs before, this is where Bowie finally came into his own. Melodies are completely gorgeous here and they stand out since most of the songs are quiet and piano based so the beauty stands out. It also contains some of Bowie's best ever lyricism. So all in all, one of Bowie's most mellow albums, and also one of his very best. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

This might be a cheat since it's not a real album, but it's simply too good to ignore. Some of their finest songs are here, and that's saying a lot. Psychedelic Beatles are my favourite Beatles and here they are in their most colorful and flowery selves. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2017]

Huge improvement over their debut album, The Bends is still pretty much a guitar rock record. Never the less, the sound is much more original and creative and the album is packed with amazing songs. If you are mainly a classic rock fan and want to try to listen to Radiohead, this is the album to start it with. Fake Plastic Trees is still their best song imo. Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.3/100, a mean average of 90.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.0.

The further towards 100 you go the more unique and interesting it gets IMO. Seems we have a lot in common, though I maybe skew a little more recent.

Good chart! Was nice seeing Innuendo and Bone Machine on here mixed in with tons of highly rated albums. Innuendo is easily one of Queens best and most underrated songs.
