Top 100 Music Albums of 2017 by babyBlueSedan
Alright, 2017. As always, here are the rules for my post-2013 year charts:
1. Everything I listen to this year will be added here, regardless of whether it's amazing or awful. If I listen to over 100 albums I'll throw out some albums I didn't have much of an opinion on (not necessarily the lowest rated ones).
2. Every album will have a comment. Comments early in the year will be longer and well thought out, and as the year goes on they'll get lazier and some of them will just say "good". It's inevitable.
3. Anything with a final rating of 70 or higher will be added to my collection. I'll list the number of "keepers" in this description. Anything with a 65 comes recommended but in the end was too inconsistent or bland for me. 60s are meh and anything under that I wouldn't really recommend.
33 keepers so far this year.

A great follow-up. Wasn't in love with the singles but all put together the album flows great. [First added to this chart: 09/30/2017]
To quote Andre 3000: "y'all don't want to hear me talk about this album, you just want to see my list of Godspeed albums from best to worst". So, here you go:
1. Lift Yr Skinny Fists
2. F#A# Infinity
3. Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
4. Allelujah, Don't Bend, Ascend!
5. Yanqui X.Y.U.
6. Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress
7. Luciferian Towers [First added to this chart: 09/30/2017]
And now, an oral history of my opinion on the Japandroids:
When I got really into Cloud Nothings, I wanted to find a band with a similar sound. I did a bunch of searching and pretty much everywhere said the Japandroids were the band I should check out next. I listened to Celebration Rock and wasn't too impressed; outside of "The House That Heaven Built" most of the songs didn't really go anywhere. I gave up to listen to other things and eventually came back because damn, "The House That Heaven Built" is a great song. I liked it more that time and have actually started to listen to it a lot. It's got some fun youthful energy and while most of the songs are too sloppy to sound good it's a good album. Their debut, however, is kind of a mess. It contains their best song - "I Quit Girls" - but there is not a single other notable track on the thing.
So I'm not that big of a fan but I still wanted to like this. Unfortunately, a lot of the fire from Celebration Rock is gone here. Seven minutes of the album is taken up by a song with no energy at all, and the second half of the album's only saving grace is "No Known Food Or Drug", which is only like two minutes long. The opener is pretty good with it's chorus of "I used to be good but now I'm bad" or something like that, and the fourth track is pretty great too, but overall it's just too safe. While their debut was too messy, this is too calculated and clean. Maybe I'm too picky, or maybe Japandroids just aren't that exciting of a band. [First added to this chart: 03/20/2017]
This album made me admit that Wolf Parade are not a great rock band, but rather a rock band that made a great album. Nothing after Apologies has stuck with me because nothing has had the energy or dynamics of that album. Rather than being Modest Mouse or the Pixies, they've decided to be...uh...I can't think of a good comparison but picture a more boring band. There are some good lyrics and songs here but I got bored my second time through and quit. [First added to this chart: 10/26/2017]
I'm starting to think I might have underrated this one, but I have no interest in going back to listen to it. Not much to say that hasn't been said: self-important lyrics, the middle stretch is terrible, Creature Comfort is good if you ignore the lyrics. [First added to this chart: 08/30/2017]
