Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by quadrophenia17

It's very hard to pick your favorite albums, and it's even harder to put them in some consecutive order, so just consider this an incomplete list. It's also bound to change, because of new releases and other various factors. These are the albums that keep getting better the older I get, and make me want to come back for more.

But enough rambling; here's my list. Enjoy!

"Did I disappoint you or leave a bad taste in your mouth?"

Tracks: Re-arranged in order of preference (try listening to the album in this order):

One - We are all one. We work better together, we know this, yet it is pride that tears us apart.

Love Is Blindness - Do we really see what is in front of us? Or only what we want to see? Love is blindness, and we are dying to see.

Acrobat - The world is a tough place, not very fair. Where do we belong? We want to belong to something so bad, that we will act like an acrobat jumping through hoops to get noticed.

Ultraviolet (Light My Way) - We all need some uplifting from someone we love and trust. We are not so strong all of the time.

Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World - Don't worry. Everything will work out just as it is supposed to. There is no need to try and fix the world. Focus on what is right around you...be still.

So Cruel - What to do after things seem to be hopeless. Relationships and Rules. Dependence versus Independence.

Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - Moving away; rising up. Being okay with decisions made. Forgiveness and understanding.

The Fly - What we will do for love...The Good, Bad, and Ugly.

Mysterious Ways - Love; she is a mysterious creature. Things we must do to get what we think we are searching for.

Zoo Station - Ready to engage in life again. Feeling strong after a brain vacation.

Even Better Than The Real Thing - Renewed energy and strength. Feeling like never giving up on love/life.

Until The End Of The World - Life is renewed/life is good. The cycle starts over with someone you know and you try to save them from what you have gone through.

"With or without you, I can't live with or without you"

"U2 graduated to superstardom with The Joshua Tree, an album that's survived all those years in the spotlight as a masterpiece." – Pitchfork

This is my favorite U2 album to introduce new fans to the group. Though I don't love it as much as 'Achtung Baby', I feel this is much more hopeful than 'Achtung Baby'. Also, this is the first time since 'October' that they were exposing their faith in their music. Though not as blunt as 'October', it serves well with what the themes of the album of faith, and the idea that is America. It's a great album for beginners, as well as one that older fans can enjoy more and more as the years go by.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.4/100, a mean average of 85.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 13.7.

Your chart is almost my album collection!!
Except for the who , van halen and Aerosmith really - but I’ll give these a go now judging by the similarities !
Great chart - as you said it’s so hard to choose just 100 and then rank them as well - so good stuff

Nice comments and great picks. Maybe too much from some classic bands but I filtered for the 2010's and I like your choices too so fine by me.

Got about 70 of these albums and another 20 on my Wishlist to get to later. I obviously like the chart with so much in common. I love to read comments and views on what the album is about and why you might like it - so you need to get round to the rest.
If I can recommend anything to you it would be Neutral Milk Hotel - In An Aeroplane Over The Sea and Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever - both Indie Rock/Folk kinda sound you might also like The Strokes who have a bit of the post punk revival with the Velvets and Lou Reed kick

Good solid chart with many classics, 42 albums in common. Hey, that's a lot. I like your comments, makes for an interesting read. Great stuff.
