Didn't like her first album (frank), and haven't even bothered listening to the compilation of previously unreleased material, probably never will, and doubtless there will be more such releases. Back to black however is near perfection (it would be higher up this chart were it not for "rehab", which has been overplayed to death, if you pardon the expression), and contains one of my fave tracks ever...in fact i'm going away to play it right now... [top 100 track - love is a losing game]

Am very happy to include this album in my list of favourites, especially as it seems to annoy some people of a certain political persuasion. Funnily enough, I had listened to the album several times before I was aware that the lyrics specifically referred to their hassles after the shepherds bush gig in 2003.

Two individual tracks make my favourite songs list, and the rest of the album ain't half bad too. Have seen this mentioned outside BEA as a favourite by a couple of writers who you wouldn't think of as nick cave fans - perhaps he's mellowed and is attracting a new audience. Was blown away by a live performance of "god is in the house" on later...with jools holland; worth tracking down, on youtube perhaps (other video-sharing sites may be available). [top 100 tracks - god is in the house, sweetheart come] note - apropos of nothing much, but only 45 of my top 100 tracks come from my current top 100 albums, so it goes.

"Be very very quiet. Clock everything you see, Little things might matter later, At the start of the end of history". I didn't play it much when first released, not sure why. It has a downbeat vibe very much the opposite of my favourite album "the nightfly", but still one of my fave 'dan albums.

Though it's not fully in the public conciousness as such, i'm noticing the occasional track popping up here and there - for example "concerning the UFO..." was used in a recent BBC radio 4 documentary ... about angels, rather oddly. But then it's a rather odd, and rather lovely album, and also features the prettiest song about a serial killer that I know of. And having listened to much metal over the years, I know of a fair few.

Very good chart. The only criticism I have is it's a little heavy on the 70s. But there's a good variety of artists, only a handful of whom I question. Most are excellent musicians. Considering the strange hate that many members are giving to the very best album of Leonard Cohen covers that exists, your ranking of Jennifer Warnes at #3 is not only surprising but courageous - love it.

Would've liked this chart better if you weren't always putting down good (if popular) tracks! I think that since I'm a rock fan who didn't grow up during that 60s/70s/80s I don't have to deal as much with "overplayed" syndrome.

Despite having a different musical taste (though not so different as you also like albums that "hold together" as one and we share 18 artists) and being from different generations, I really enjoyed reading your chart and I love to see so many '70's albums, some I have never heard of, others I find key classics.
