It's dangerous to make assumptions like these but I think it's safe to to say that hard Rock and metal would not be what it is today without Black Sabbath, or even this album. Such is the magnitude of pure genre-creating awesomeness that is Paranoid.

I have a kind of love-hate relationship with this album. It's not my favourite Radiohead album and number 15 is high but it's just objectively good. It's undeniably one of the most important albums of the last 2 decades and some of the songs on this are just mindblowingly touching. [First added to this chart: 07/29/2017]

Undeniably one of my favorite albums, although I recognize I am part of a very small minority. Yet I don't care. Fly Like An Eagle is equally psychedelic, bluesy, groovy and slick as rock can be. Steve Miller and crew have a kind of swagger about them that few can match. Some of the weaker tracks on here drag the overall quality a bit down, but when it's on point it's fucking on point.

Favourite: Fly Like an Eagle, Mercury Blues, Take the Money and Run, Serenade, The Window

Least Favourite (relatively): Dance Dance Dance, You Send Me

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.0/100, a mean average of 80.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 20.3.

Nice selection. The 90s had a lot more good music than you included but you clearly have an old head preference which is understandable.

Very good chart of the classical albums of the 60`s and 70`s.
I love it but I can`t believe you`re born 1998.

Great list, 28 in common with my own. 70's definitely the best decade, (by a country mile).

You clearly like the classics, and I will try that Steve Miller Band album you have at #11 atm. I miss a little more less known bands and artists, especially from the 2000's and 2010's; maybe you can check out Porcupine Tree for example.
