I have no idea how this album is so underrated. It is one of the best debut albums I have ever heard. The band already sounds so mature, and there are some bangers on here

Radiohead's third stroke of genius. It is beautifully produced and dreamy, and really demonstrates how talented these guys are (as if they needed to prove that more).
Best: "Daydreaming", "Present Tense", "Decks Dark"

Even though this album is in the top 50, it's still underrated. It is remarkable that the guitar playing is still so interesting 52 years later. The production is phenomenal as well

I discovered this album at a perfect time in my life. During this year (2021) I have struggled greatly to make sense of my place in the world, who I was, who I want to be, what I want to do with my life. Most of these worries have stemmed from my growing acceptance of what having a career is actually like, and coming to terms with how much I have changed in the past year/two years. With all of this going on in the midst of a frighteningly uncertain time in America, the content of this album really resonates.
After listening to the first 6 tracks, I thought this album would be a 10. It slows down in the second half only to come back at the end with a banger.
Best: "The Promised Land", Title Track
Rating: 8.5
"Well, if she wants to see me, You can tell her that I'm easily found"
"Mister I ain't a boy, no I'm a man, And I believe in a promised land"

This album manages to be diverse without also being divisive in tone, which is a major accomplishment. This is a major step above Debut.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 10% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.0/100, a mean average of 86.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 11.1.

Really nice chart! I share your love for the vast majority of your picks here! Vapour Trail is fantastic (One of my favourites as well!). Feel the 60's and 70's are a tad neglected but it is a fantastic collection of albums nonetheless.

Great chart. ‘90’s heavy which is fine with me. Many of my favourite albums are from that decade

If basic means not full of pretentious cooler than thou/I only listen to this to impress pitchfork/RYM type music, then yeah, this chart is lacking. Thank you for not being pretentious.

Fellow R.E.M fan also, nice to see 7 of their albums on your list. I note there’s no “Fables” within your 7 , of course it’s a matter of opinion but personally I adore this album and have as my number 2 R.E.M album just behind “Life’s Rich Pageant “

Overall I think it’s an excellent list

What's not to like? Very good chart, many of my favourites you have put your honest favourite s you're not out to impress anyone. That is commendable. There are quite a few I used to have on my chart like Achtung Baby, Mellon Collie & By The Way. They may edge back in one day. I like the fact that it's not a top 100. You have simply made a list of your favourite albums. And I enjoyed the notes. Regarding the number 1 album Let Down is my favourite Radiohead song. Glad to see it's also one of yours.
