This list has gone through many incarnations. I used to care if people liked it so I had it tweaked a certain way then I tried just one album per artist for a while. this however is my purest 100 Favorite Music albums of all-time. I didn't really know how to define best so i am going with the 100 that bring me the most pleasure and or make me think in a productive way.

Are You ExperiencedUnited States The Jimi Hendrix Experience
As solid an album as there is not a bad track on the record. I can't say which are the best as every track is a winner. My vote is for the vastly superior, in my opinion, American version of this brilliant album.

One of the most thought out records In history with led to a tremendous film being made based on the record. It plays like a film so it was not really much of a stretch.

Jerry Garcia stated many years ago that they mixed this album to go along with an acid trip. A tremendous mind blowing mixture of live and studio playing creates a unique marvelous record that truly does make you get to those special places great music can take you.

What a voice. The vocal range and sounds have to be heard to be believed. A stunning hypnotic album unlike anything else i have ever heard. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE PEDESTRIAN COVER. This is NOT normal music. A visionary artist and a truly unique amazing work of art.

Fantastic record that i only heard for the first time a few years ago. Quickly became one of my favorites. Fantastic musicianship on the record. If you like excellent playing and have not heard this record i suggest you go give it a spin, immediately. Their only record together but it is a masterpiece.

Quickly becoming a favorite what an album, so glad i grabbed a copy at record store day. i recommend for all fans of funk, soul, r and b, hip hop or rock give this a listen. It is a great record. Died tragically young at only 26 but at least we have these recordings to remember this giant of a man both literally and figuratively. What an amazing record.

If I included more than 1 album per artist in my chart, it would have something like 60% in common with yours! Excellent choices, some old-school favorites, and a couple of suggestions that were new to me and I will check out.

Excellent chart. Some real groovy juice. This is music you can really feel and I like how it's quite unpredictable but still made of albums I feel like most who like music should easily appreciate.

Not much in common (only 8 albums & 8 artists) but phenomenal choices in rock, hip-hop, funk, soul, prog, jazz, etc. Super rich and inclusive. Great notes too. Loved seeing Cat Stevens at #12, he was one of my first loves and that album was among the first few I owned. I saved some of your rap selections to listen to later. None of your choices seemed cliche (Even Beatles at #1), I'm glad you chose this method of entry. Saving this chart to my favorites.

I liked reading your notes. They are really sensible. And I liked what you wrote about trying to make an honest chart about what are REALLY your favorite albums, rather than what you think SHOULD be your favorite albums. But even that isn't as easy as it sounds, as I've discovered.
