2001United States Dr. Dre
Such a funky fun classic ip hop album. How could you say dre fell off his last album was the chronic. This is a masterpiece that introduced the masses to a white rapper from Detroit named Marshall Mathers who went by the MC name of Eminem or Slim Shady. Snoop returned and this was just banger after banger. Another Ganja soaked blast from the west coast by the king the DR.

Noisey chaotic and brillant. Its amazing how different yet amazing all the Velvet Underground albums with Lou Reed are. Original fantastic work of art though not surprisingly a failure as a chart topper. Influential to this and hs proven its staying power and sure majesty over the 50 years since its release.

A seminal records of 80's rock n roll. Slash has some of the best guitar playing ever on this album. The solos in sweet child of mine and paradise city are terrific hair raising showcases and Axl is at the height of his powers just commanding the songs with some of the best rock vocals. Hollywood to the core a truly legendary record.

Not much in common (only 8 albums & 8 artists) but phenomenal choices in rock, hip-hop, funk, soul, prog, jazz, etc. Super rich and inclusive. Great notes too. Loved seeing Cat Stevens at #12, he was one of my first loves and that album was among the first few I owned. I saved some of your rap selections to listen to later. None of your choices seemed cliche (Even Beatles at #1), I'm glad you chose this method of entry. Saving this chart to my favorites.

I liked reading your notes. They are really sensible. And I liked what you wrote about trying to make an honest chart about what are REALLY your favorite albums, rather than what you think SHOULD be your favorite albums. But even that isn't as easy as it sounds, as I've discovered.
