The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day TheoryUnited States Makaveli
The Bob Dylan of Hip Hop makes his most ambitious album hits hard when it needs to but is intelligent when it calls for that. Gritty and gangsta one minute touching and emotional the next a complex record just like the man, Truly a great piece of hip hop art.

Ready To DieUnited States The Notorious B.I.G.
Tough gritty album. This sounds like the streets of NYC in the mid 90's. Sparse beats highlight that velvet flow of probably the greatest rapper who will ever live. Cut down in his prime he was a true talent of unparalleled skill.

The ChronicUnited States Dr. Dre
The album that introduced the world to the G Funk Era and to Calvin Broadus aka Snoop Dog. A Hazy 420 Cannabis coated masterpiece. Its relevance can not be understated. One of the first records to bring casual music fans into the gangster rap world. Fun, Funny at times, hard, and edgy this album was like a day in the life of a compton citizen.

DoggystyleUnited States Snoop Dogg
Instant Classic, Snoop would never really live up to the potential he displayed on this amazing record. Much of the rest of his catalog is meh but this record is amazing. Sick flow from Snoop and some monster Dr. Dre Beats. He hit the ground running then seems to get lost in amaze of marijuana smoke. But He is making a fortune and seems genuinely to love his kids and trying to improve hs community and i applaud that as well as this brilliant record.

2001United States Dr. Dre
Such a funky fun classic ip hop album. How could you say dre fell off his last album was the chronic. This is a masterpiece that introduced the masses to a white rapper from Detroit named Marshall Mathers who went by the MC name of Eminem or Slim Shady. Snoop returned and this was just banger after banger. Another Ganja soaked blast from the west coast by the king the DR.

Not much in common (only 8 albums & 8 artists) but phenomenal choices in rock, hip-hop, funk, soul, prog, jazz, etc. Super rich and inclusive. Great notes too. Loved seeing Cat Stevens at #12, he was one of my first loves and that album was among the first few I owned. I saved some of your rap selections to listen to later. None of your choices seemed cliche (Even Beatles at #1), I'm glad you chose this method of entry. Saving this chart to my favorites.

I liked reading your notes. They are really sensible. And I liked what you wrote about trying to make an honest chart about what are REALLY your favorite albums, rather than what you think SHOULD be your favorite albums. But even that isn't as easy as it sounds, as I've discovered.
