Produced by John Lennon. Not a particularly exceptional album, but a more important one than it gets credit for. Lennon was running out of ideas at this point, he was on exile from Yoko Ono, and he was starting to turn away from being so damn political. The title track is great...the rest is more interesting than anything else. One thing Lennon never was: boring. And even though Mind Games isn't really standout, it's an important document in the history of John Lennon, which makes it automatically (in my book) important. Produced by Jimmy Page. The last Zeppelin album gets a lot of hate, but there are some really great moments on it, and it's worthy of being alongside the rest of their discography. "In The Evening", "Fool In The Rain", and "Carouselambra" are top notch songs, but it's the Robert Plant vocal on "I'm Gonna Crawl" that's the real shining moment here. It may be his best vocal. Led Zeppelin was moving into a new direct here, and that's something that I think should be embraced, not criticized. [First added to this chart: 12/04/2011]
