Produced by The Band. For this 1971 concert in New York, The Band found themselves paired with a horn section for the very first time. The results are an even more full sound, and an excellent show captured on album to go back and savor over and over. Everyone is in excellent form...the vocals are perfect, as always, and the instrumental interplay is at its best. Better than most live albums in an era of live albums, Rock Of Ages collects their best songs in a powerful live setting.

Produced by Willie Mitchell. The run of hits and great albums that Al Green went on in the early 70's was quite remarkable, and this album is the best of them. He hadn't yet gone over the gospel deep end yet, and his golden voice and natural soulfulness make this a true masterpiece. "Here I Am (Come And Take Me)" and "Call me (Come Back Home)" were the big hits, but it's his take on the saddest song ever written, Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" that really brings it home.

Produced by Rod Stewart. Before he sold his soul to the devil for God only know what, Rod Stewart was the coolest singer on the planet. And he was never better than he was here, the pinnacle of his solo career...his entire career. This album boasts not only his finest material in "Maggie May", "Mandolin Wind" and the title track, but also shows that he used to have great taste in covers. 5 years later, Stewart was courting the realms of really bad music and taaste, but here, he's at his exceptional best.
