Produced by Neil Young, Elliot Mazer, Henry Lewy & Jack Nitzsche. Say what you will about Harvest. "It's too pop". "It's too mellow". I say pah. Harvest is stunning and beautiful. Just because it has "Heart Of Gold" and "Old Man", and just because you've heard them a million times doesn't mean they are bad. Neil has made several masterpieces, and this is most definitely one of them. Not a weak track...not even the ones buried in strings. Ten tracks of perfection from one of the best of all time.

Produced by Robbie Robertson. It was supposed to have been the last show by The band, but they couldn't keep away. Except for Robbie Robertson. But regardless, this is the way to go out. Invite people like Van and Neil and Neil and Joni and Eric and Muddy and maybe Bob Dylan, too, to help send you on your way in style. This is how I'd like to end a band someday. With a big Scorsese production and the best musicians in the business stopping by to pay tribute by singing along with the band. Simply glorious.

Produced by Neil Young, David Briggs & Kendall Pacios. Originally started as a soundtrack to a screenplay by Dean Stockwell that was never written, this album is a thing of beauty. Some of Neil's greatest melodies are here, plus the romping Southern Man make this his crowning achievement as an album. He never sang higher or sweeter than on the title track, and songs like Tell Me Why, Only Love Can Break Your Heart and I Believe In You are among his best work. A masterpiece through and through.

Produced by Neil Young, David Briggs and Tim Mulligan. A strange sort of a live album. Most of the tracks were recorded live, with the audience noise mostly removed, and studio overdubs added. Two of the songs are new studio tracks ("Pocohantas" and "Sail Away") But the album works on the strength of the performances, and on the strength of the material. And because the concept of a working band on the road somehow overshadows the trickery. Somehow, a great album. But that's just what Neil has always been good at.

Produced by The Band. For this 1971 concert in New York, The Band found themselves paired with a horn section for the very first time. The results are an even more full sound, and an excellent show captured on album to go back and savor over and over. Everyone is in excellent form...the vocals are perfect, as always, and the instrumental interplay is at its best. Better than most live albums in an era of live albums, Rock Of Ages collects their best songs in a powerful live setting.
