Produced by Pink Floyd. A moving, stunning piece of art. This album flows together like no other, and the entire mood and atmosphere is consistent throughout. Not just lyrically...this is musically as sound a concept album as there is. It still sells a gazillion copies to this day, and is revered for good reason. This is a sonic masterpiece that has yet to be even close to duplicated over what is now 40 years plus. Perfect in every way, pleasing to every sense, beautiful in the rarest of ways. Produced by Jimmy Miller. The best years of The Rolling Stones were the years that Mick Taylor was the lead guitarist. Sticky Fingers is the best of that period, the best album of the Stones career. And that's saying a lot. "Brown Sugar", "Bitch", "Sway", "Dead Flowers", "Sister Morphine"...this album has it all. It's got a variety of sounds, it rocks, and outside of the ill-conceived jazzy end of "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'", it's absolutely perfect. Sticky Fingers is why The Stones are called the greatest band in the world. They do not disappoint. [First added to this chart: 12/04/2011]

Produced by Jeff Lynne. This album gets additional points for being my first purchase. I bought a stereo one piece at a time on layaway at 16, then bought this album and locked myself away for a week absorbing every second of it. It's a polished, excellent album, loaded with great sounding surprises. The stuff that works sounds even better today, while the small rest of it is tedious...but the memory of this album is an actual accomplishment. Always a special place in my heart for Out Of The Blue! [First added to this chart: 12/05/2011]

Produced by George Harrison & Phil Spector. When George left The Beatles, he had years worth of songwriting just waiting to be released. All Things Must Pass is 3 records of newfound freedom...no more second fiddle to John & Paul. Like all of his solo work, this is open and spiritually honest, and you can hear the joy in his singing and playing. He was never this good again, but on this album, he was simply great. The best of all of the solo albums by The Beatles...and that's saying a lot. A triple solo debut album that works...yep! [First added to this chart: 12/04/2011]

Produced by Pink Floyd. One of my favorite front to back listens ever. To me, this album puts all progressive rock records to shame. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is a monster of a track, and throughout the album David Gilmour proves more than ever that you don't have to play a million notes on the guitar to be brilliant. The title track is one of the most beautiful songs ever, and the overall mood of the album is as strong as anything you'll ever hear. This and Dark Side alternate as my Floyd favorites. I love this album. [First added to this chart: 12/04/2011]

Produced by Chris Thomas and Bill Price. This music, and the people who litened to it, used to scare the bejesus out of me. I know now that it was because I didn't understand what punk was supposed to be. I now find this album magnificent in its brutality. While bands like The Clash sang about things from a global perspective, Johnny Rotten sang about what was bugging HIM. There was also the band being dismissed as not being able to play their instruments...but as you can hear on this brilliant album, they really COULD play. [First added to this chart: 10/18/2012]

Produced by Bob Ezrin, David Gilmour, James Guthrie and Roger Waters. I went through a long period where I couldn't stand this album...probably because of the sound of Waters' ego growing with each song. But I can't deny that this is a great sounding and amazing piece of work. A real concept album, a trip down the road of madness and loaded with incredible moments. It isn't sprawling like Dark Side or Wish You Were Here, but that's part of it...they show that they could do it even in quick, short bursts as well. Well played! Produced by Jimmy Page. You may think I have this ranked too low...you may be right. It's not that I don't love this album (technically untitled, dammit), it's just that I don't hear it a lot. It's one of those special albums that I don't like to spoil with repeated listenings, because I want it to always be as special as it always has been. This may not make sense to you, but it really does, with this album especially, for me. Every song here is special to me, and I plan to keep it that way. [First added to this chart: 12/04/2011]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.1/100, a mean average of 88.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.9.

Too much emphasis on classic rock for a higher rating than 80 sorry. Not a single German album in a decade that was defining for the German music scene??
