Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by DJENNY (2018)

I am just a casual music listener because I am more of a movie guy. But over the last three years, I have fallen in love with a bunch of musicians and albums.

What albums do you love?
What albums do you hate?
What albums would you recommend?

DoolittleUnited States Pixies
Track Picks: Debaser

When I heard this album my sophomore year in high school I became obsessed with Frank Black's Interplanetary Surfer Rock.

This album is a melded immediately with my ADD-riddled mind. Each song traces back to punk roots. Each song is so short and punchy. After listening to the album the songs, rapid guitar licks and the absurdist lyrics are unable to leave my brain.

Marquee MoonUnited States Television
Favorite Track: Friction

Not a single track goes to waste in New York bands' magnum opus. Having come out of the CBGB crowd, Television was one of the last bands of that era to release music, but all that time performing clubs helped the band concentrate on their sound. This album features a total eight songs each one has been crafted to perfection. Every time you hear it, it is like hearing it for the first time.

Good lord, this album kicks so much ass.

Deltron 3030Mixed Nationality Deltron 3030
Track Pick: 3030

I'm even surprised this ended up creeping up so far on my list. However Del's concept album with Dan the Automator and Kid Koala comes off without a hitch. Del's has this effortless buttery flow that embraces the beat he spits over. Very few albums paint a future as interesting as MCs in mech-suits fighting the oppressive government with socially conscious hip-hop.

Brian Wilson worked decades to get his sound to this album right and it shows. This is got to be my favorite iteration of these tracks over the also great Smile Sessions. The sounds are just so colorful.

Recommendations:

Michael Jackson entire adult discography (OTW, Thriller (even though you already have it here), Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, Invincible)
The Mars Volta - Deloused In The Comatorium (I guess this would be a favorite, although I do prefer their follow-up Frances The Mute, which I also suggest to give a listen) + you said you were a movie guy, these two albums are stream-of-consciousness concept(story) works of art.
Weezer - The Blue Album, Pinkerton
Harry Styles - Harry Styles
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
Black Eyed Peas - Behind The Front (classy and criminally underrated album from '98, catchy and optimistic like ATCQ)
Queens of The Stone Age - Rated R
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

Amazing picks, we have a lot in common. Great diversity here. Given the rest of your picks, I'm sure you've probably already listened to them, but I think you would like Modest Mouse a lot.
