My favourite decade of music is 86-95 so the last half of this decade dominates this chart

And I'm in love with myself"
In 1985 I had heard nothing like this before and I was blown away...couldn't stop listening to it. Poppy melodies nearly totally hidden under noise and feedback, druggy lyrics nearly totally hidden under relationship lyrics
10/10 songs: Never Understand, Just Like Honey, Taste Of Cindy [First added to this chart: 06/04/2017]
Feeling hot hot hot!!!"
I love albums that make me feel, and lose myself in the music, and this does that. Throughout sometimes the feelings are uncomfortable, screaming, itching, squealing, like in Torture, Snakepit (the jungle sounds in this are amazing - I am there in the jungle), and Shiver and Shake. Sometimes they are sweet and lovely, like in Catch (the most perfect pop song ever), Just Like Heaven, and Perfect Girl. This is a great combination of The Cure's best gothic rock, and near perfect pop, and a hint of whats to come in Disintegration with One More Time, and A Thoussand Hours. The first album I ever bought as soon as it came out.
10/10 songs: Catch, How Beautiful You Are, The Kiss [First added to this chart: 06/04/2017]
And all things end in nothing
And heaven I think
Is too close to hell"
I was obsessed with Psychocandy when it came out and I knew it had great melodic songs under that noise so when this album was released I loved that they had stripped away the feedback and proved to everyone they were great songwriters and not cashing in on a gimmick. Admittedly I was going through a bit of a gothic phase at the time (musically speaking) so the dark tone, deep vocals, and overall gloominess made this an album I adored for a long time.
10/10 songs: April Skies, & Happy When It Rains. I love Cherry Came Too and Darklands as well. [First added to this chart: 06/04/2017]
But I don't want what anyone can have
You got it
Yeah, you got it
So what?
Keep it outta my face"
Undervalued and underrated. Mudhoney where the first band that got me into grunge before Nirvana. They deserve to be mentioned as part of the big four if grunge - Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney. I have seen them live three times and met Mark Arm once and chatted to him. Made him laugh when I told him we used their cover of The Rose as one of our wedding songs.
10/10 song: Here Comes Sickness [First added to this chart: 06/04/2017]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 17% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.3/100, a mean average of 88.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.3.
