Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.2/100, a mean average of 86.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.1.

Pleased to see Boxer on the list. We had so many albums in common I decided to check out artists on your list that I wasn't familar with. This seemed like a sound strategy in light of the fact that we have over 40 albums in common. I recently acquired Right Away Great Captain, Los Campensinos!, The Wrens, Iron and Wine, Dirty Projectors and Menomena. For the most part I'm diggin' them. The Iron and Wine veers a bit too far into country for me from time to time. Especially like the Menomena and I no idea that Andy Hull had three solo albums as Captain. Really diggin' those. You still have your list in the wrong order though.

Not sure why I rated your list relatively low (75). Bumped it up to 90. The besteveralbums gods graced me with the ability to make decade charts and it turns out we have 40 of the same albums (you just put them in the wrong order). I get what you say about audioslave. I think two of the three albums are excellent but truth be told, I hardly ever listen to them. I picked up two of the Antlers albums. Haven't had time to decide where they place on any of my charts but I'm digging them. Partial to Hospice over Burst I think. I think you should do yourself a favour and give The National another listen. If you're just going to have one Black Keys album on this list - Rubber Factory is the right choice.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out Jeff. I think everything One by One and on for the Foo Fighters has been inconsistent. I still enjoy all of them, but not nearly as much as the first 3 albums. In Your Honor was on this list a while back. Audioslave is good for a couple songs, but they get old fast for me. The National has never clicked with me for whatever reason, and everything the Black Keys have done Jack White has already done better. And I think I did have Riot Act on this list a while back also, but a couple newer discoveries pushed it off.

Confused by the absence of the Foo Fighters. I know you dig The Color and the Shape from your other lists. Hard to imagine why they would be completely blanked here. Audioslave is a surprising ommission as well, given your appreciation of Soundgarden in the 90s. I'd like to see more love for the Black Keys and the lack of inclusion of The National makes me sad, but I can't argue with a list that includes The White Stripes,Radiohead, The Strokes,Grizzly Bear, Modest Mouse. I like the Shins, thanks to you, all though not nearly as much as you do. It was your overall list that got me to give them a serious listen. With regard to PJ, I get why the Avocado album didn't make the cut but I think Riot Act is worthy of inclusion. It's underrated. Worth adding to the list for Save You and Love Boat Captain alone. Just sayin'
