Top 5 AOTY for me. Lorde is cementing herself as the best female pop artist in modern music. This album tells a story of Lorde finding maturity over the last few years. The narrative follows the emotional epicenter of the current generation. She begins going to a party and feeling that "when we're dancing everything is alright" but she starts to get more personal and reflects on the modern ideals of nights out and superficial interaction as a means of experiencing human connection. From Liability onwards the album is more dark and introspective as she takes apart the feelings of loneliness of lovelessness of the modern age. Perfect places serves as a perfect end for the piece as she sums up the idea that everyone is looking for this ideal that seems impossible to achieve in the way society presents it, looking for a perfect place instead of a place of fulfillment.

I have high hopes for Lorde. She showed tremendous growth as an artist and a person between two albums and she is still only 21 years old. She now sits at about the same point Kendrick was at after GKMC, relative to their genres. Let's hope she can make a TPAB. [First added to this chart: 02/21/2018]

Such an amazing chart, I forgot how personal your notes were too so I've upped the rating to 95/100. Great inclusions of classic rock alongside hip hop that's great to see.
