I listened to this album before watching the amazing documentary, and I knew that it was a hidden gem even then. The social commentary on this album really was ahead of its time here. Listening to the Establishment's Blues, all of Rodriguez's complaints about society are still 100% relevant today. The dude was even preaching that smoking caused cancer in a time where everyone and their mother smoked thinking that there was no repercussions. The songwriting on this thing is absolutely brilliant, and the lyrics are just as great. [First added to this chart: 03/15/2018]

While I would rate this album slightly lower than the debut, it is still just as great of a listen. The highs are so extremely high here. Silver Words? and I Think of You are two of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard. Cause is one of the saddest I've ever heard. This album is a bit more orchestral and soft than the debut, but it works so well. I just think that Heikki Suburbia Bus Tour ruins the flow of the album. [First added to this chart: 10/02/2018]

That sax solo in 21st Century Schizoid Man makes me cream my pants. The rest of the album would be perfect if it weren't for the last 10 minutes of Moonchild. [First added to this chart: 11/18/2017]

Everyone has that one album that they listen to when they feel like sh** and want to feel even worse. This is my go to album for that. It's a reminder of how alone, empty, small, and human we all are. [First added to this chart: 11/18/2017]

Not a single stinker on here, very consistent album. One or two forgettable tracks, but Go Your Own Way certainly isn't one of them. [First added to this chart: 11/18/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.2/100, a mean average of 91.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.7.

Thanks for your comment Boltzmann! I can see why the wording of my description confused you, but I have obviously listened to every album front to back on every one of my charts. I meant that I hadn't listened to most of the albums in the top 500 or so in the overall chart, and thus don't be angry if I don't put Loveless or whatever on my chart.

I'm sorry you found my chart "bland". Feel free to hit me with any recommendations that aren't dull!

like a lot of your choices but i think half 1970s is a lot, and the 70s are my favourite decade jajaja

Really cool here. I found one new album from a band from Mexico but the rest is everything i can go with. Beatles, Radiohead, Neil Young and David Bowie superb collection.

"Here is a list of my favorite albums, I haven't listened to them all"... that's not how that works, I'd say drop one of these sentences. Impressive how your chart is still extremely predictable and bland.

Sunflower by The Beach Boys is great though, and indeed underappreciated. This mf was making shoegazing in the '70s.

Pretty good. Not a fan of Fleet Foxes myself, as they remind me of stroking stoats in the West Country. Good to see Forever Changes by Love ranked so high.
