At #13 of my personal favourite #vinyl #records
This one I only listened to when I did the RollingStone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time
I just love #BigStar .Have since watched a documentary on the band which is sad ,but I even more appreciate the music today .
There second #album Big Star - Radio City is my favourite
Radio City is the second album by the American rock group Big Star. Released in 1974, Radio City was recorded during 1973 at Memphis' Ardent Studios. Though not a commercial success at the time, it is now recognized as a milestone album in the history of power pop music. Critically acclaimed upon its release, the record sold poorly, partly due to a lack of promotion and the distribution problems of the band's struggling record label, Ardent Records. The album included "September Gurls" and "Back of a Car", which remain among the most famous Big Star songs; both the Searchers and the Bangles have covered "September Gurls".
The original Ardent Records LP featured record-jacket photographs by noted photographer William Eggleston, including The Red Ceiling on the cover.[1] Eggleston was a close friend of band member Alex Chilton.

Radio City is notable for its unique, chewy guitar sound, for its live-sounding yet meticulous textures, and for its somewhat tortuous recording history.[citation needed] The album shows a southern US band under the influence of British Invasion bands such as The Beatles and The Kinks.

Some of the outtakes from the album include "I Got Kinda Lost", "Gone with the Light", "Motel Blues", and "There Was a Life" (an early version of "There Was a Light" from Chris Bell's I Am the Cosmos CD). The singles released from the album were "O My Soul" and "September Gurls".

Radio City's reputation has grown since its release, with many critics and listeners of the opinion that it is not only the definitive power pop album but one of the finest rock-music albums. As writer Richard Meltzer told an interviewer, "Big Star...is the means through which most bands today who are influenced by the Beatles get their dose of the British Invasion."

In 2003, the album was ranked number 403 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[2] Rolling Stone magazine also ranked the song "September Gurls" as number 178 on its 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[3] Sound & Vision ranked it number 43 on its Top 50 Albums of All Time list.[4]

Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell (Meat Loaf album)
This album i listened to the first time on a pub crawl in the 80th . A night I never forget
Bat Out of Hell is the second studio album and the major-label debut by American rock singer Meat Loaf, as well as being his first collaboration with composer Jim Steinman and producer Todd Rundgren, released in September 1977 on Cleveland International/Epic Records. It is one of the best-selling albums of all time, having sold over 43 million copies worldwide.[1] Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it at number 343 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time in 2003.
Its musical style is influenced by Steinman's appreciation of Richard Wagner, Phil Spector, Bruce Springsteen and The Who. Bat Out of Hell has been certified 14 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.[2] As of May 2015, it has spent 485 weeks in the UK Charts.[3] The album went on to become one of the most influential and iconic albums of all time and its songs have remained classic rock staples.

This album's title also became the title for two more Meat Loaf albums. Steinman produced the album Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell (1993). Desmond Child produced the album Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose (2006).

A musical based on the album, staged by Jay Scheib, opened at the Manchester Opera House on February 17, 2017 before transferring to the London Coliseum and Toronto, Canada's Ed Mirvish Theatre in late 2017.[4] Since April 2nd 2018 it has been running at the Dominion Theatre, London[5], with plans to run the show in parallel in Germany[6] and touring the USA in 2019[7].
