"Liverpool was the other city, besides Manchester, that was changed irrevocably by the onset of punk-rock. With future luminaries such as The Teardrop Explodes and Echo & The Bunnymen being the scene leaders, the sound was more eccentric, more psychedelic (The Beatles influence, perhaps, refusing to die despite their unfashionable status), even wistful - Liverpool's reputation as a port and dreams of far away places shaping the minds and hearts at work. Oh yeah, and ridiculous, elaborate names as well, stand up Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Turquoise Swimming Pools and (deep breath) the Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus.

“It’s with some sadness reviewing this compilation, featuring and named after the Buzzcocks single - although not written by the recently deceased and much missed Pete Shelley. Like the title track, every song zips by with a certain brevity and joie de vivre that was missing from most guitar pop since the 60’s.
