The Easybeats are mostly famous for the title track, "Friday on my mind" (which IS one of THE very best songs of the 60s), but they are so much more than that. I don´t really know how to describe their musical style, the closest thing I could think of would be The Kinks without the lyrical depth. Only tracks I would recommend skipping are the covers of River Deep Mountain high, Hound Dog and See Line Woman. All other songs are written by the band and are accordingly great, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSowZcvoqr4 [First added to this chart: 02/11/2012]

This is the bands "darkest" album (if you can use that term for a band like The Mamas and the Papas). They had just been going through some problems (one meber cheated on another member with a third member) and that resulted in a more serious and moving album than their previous releases. I´ve cried several times listening to "Did you ever want cry". Yeah, you heard me! I cry listening to The Mamas and the Papas. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, AVOID "BOYS AND GIRLS" AND "TWIST AND SHOUT"!!! They suck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vGhlLsJ_10 [First added to this chart: 02/11/2012]

An amazing sunshine/baroque pop album. I'll take this over Pet Sounds any day of the week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs-oGEhDP0E [First added to this chart: 02/11/2012]

Whenever I´m listening to this album, I imagine it´s that face on the album cover doing the singing. Just look at her, it´s like she´s gazing into your soul isn´t it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78aLi00SHC8 [First added to this chart: 02/11/2012]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.0/100, a mean average of 84.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.0.

An interesting chart that clearly defines your taste in music ¬ and has a few albums that I missed along my own journey and will have a listen to ¬¬ and for that I am most grateful. The inclusions of 2 Australian & 1 New Zealand albums deserves applause!

as you have only one album for artist, found the Stones' entry interesting. "flowers" is one of their better 60's albums.
haven't seen the Music Machine on any other list. older brother owned that album. Played the shit out of it as a kid.

I have a lot to check out. I feel like there is a lot I've yet to listen too that sounds up my alley. Great to see some lesser known albums get a chance to be seen and now put on my radar.

I don't necessarilly agree, but I certainly UNDERSTAND why one would prefer that "Present Tense" album to "Pet Sounds". The album's opener might be the most hauntingly beautiful, mind-altering, gorgeous "new" thing I've heard this year. It's really rare to come across such mastery of sound and production with great melodies as well (the entire album and bonus tracks that is). Right below that album sits "Gandalf", an equally gorgeous experience I've got from your chart. I don't know where you find all these gems...

Keep 'em coming!
