GENRE: Piano rock/Alternative

This album is ridiculously slept on. Incredible vocals, experimental singing and instrumentation, ridiculously clever songwriting. There are lines here that just make me cry because they're so good, and shine specifically when matched with Fiona's exhilarating delivery.

Some of my favorite lines:
"If what I am is what I am
'Cause I does what I does
Then brother get back, 'cause my breast's gonna bust open
The rib is the shell
And a heart is the yolk
And I just made a meal for us both to choke on." - Every Single Night

The "pop" in "dream pop" is accentuated significantly, but don't let that fool you -- the hooks are catchy and earwormy yet don't play on the nerves. Definitely their best album. [First added to this chart: 05/11/2018]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.9/100, a mean average of 92.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.8.

I like this charts although not familiar with many of the albums - finish your notes so I can decide which one's I will listen to this year!!
Also agree that you should look back further to 60's, 70's & 80's stuff.
Seems you quite like serious/intelligent stuff so I suggest trying Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation from the 80's - avant rock/ art punk; try Lou Reed's Berlin from the 70's - second side is pretty heavy going but if it hits a nerve then you will love it; Captain Beefheart - Safe As Milk from the 60's - Blues/Garage/Acid and Psychedelic Rock with a few defo weird bits.

Love the Fishmans representation! It's a lot of Radiohead but I can dig it. There's a wide variety of genres here to check out.

Great Chart and thanks for fishmans. Never heard before about his music. Now, i´m a little bit excited before my first listen.

I´m suprised that Panda Bears Person Pitch is not in your list.

So maybe you know them, but if you don´t, listen to Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth

LOVE your notes and the inclusion of Vespertine so high, along with a ton of my own personal favourites from the 90s/00s!! That said, with more Radiohead albums than anything from the 60s/70s/80s makes me feel like your missing out on some older underground classics? I might get this wrong but here's a couple of picks that you might enjoy :)

Nico - Chelsea Girl (gorgeous chamber folk album from the VU collaborater)
The United States Of America - The United States Of America (the only album from the massively ahead of their time and influential psychedelic rock band)
Brigitte Fontaine - Comme A La Radio (experimental chanson album loved by Beck and Sonic Youth among others)
Exuma - Exuma (eerie and sometimes beautiful folk from the Bahamas)
Galaxie 500 - On Fire (exemplary dream pop album that could be released now and still sound as fresh)
