Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Keatownrodriguez (2019)

So basically, this isn't 1 to 1 with my actual opinions, it's so hard to figure out where goes where! My top 20 are probably accurate but afterwards.... oh well, that just means I'll be changing it pretty frequently, making it more accurate. Also I'll be finding new albums all the time so, check back bois! 16yr old fool that lives in the middle of nowhere so who knows where my tastes come from

This is the first album I fell in love with, it was an album that I knew nothing about (aside from Smells Like Teen Spirit) and I decided to give it a listen, in my mind this is MY album just because no one else I knew was into it (I was a middle schooler in Idaho so no one I knew at the time really listened to anything outside of country, hair metal, or garbage mainstream music) every song hit me on such a personal level during a very depressing part of my life, the horrors of 7th grade. This album not only made me love Nirvana, it made me love music and realize how much it could help me in my life.

Well this album is basically the same story that Nevermind was, but I heard this one second so it doesn't hold as high a place in my heart as that one does, but honestly songs like Dumb, Frances Farmer and All Apologies hit closer to home than anything on Nevermind, so it's incredibly close, but this is my second favorite Nirvana album.

The opposite of Weezer's Blue album is the melancholic depressing ball of relate-ability that is Pinkerton, It's freaking torturing to listen to in the best of ways

The ambition of this record doesn't always pay off, but boy when it does it's really something else, double albums are traditionally a huge turn off for me, but this one is just such a solid listen, I won't listen to all of the songs individually, but there's just something about listening them together on the album that's so enjoyable.

I honestly think this band isn't given the credit they deserve, they delivered a phenomenal record for their debut with in my opinion the most top tier post-grunge sound, it just feels like the exact direction that the grunge era needed to progress. Then after this album, they chose to experiment, which I love. Their second album was a bit more sound-based at times as opposed to lyrics and melody which makes it a great listen. Their third album is a more or less return to form but still evolving their sound to make an album I almost love as much as their debut.

This is a very similar album to thier debut, but the songs here are a lot shorter and more consistently fast-paced which is exactly how I like my rock and roll, even though I love the debut, the song structure on this record is more up my alley so I prefer this one.

I've never had an album make me so uncomfortable in my life, and that's exactly what's so special about it. The theme of evil and sadness hits you over the head on almost every song and man it hits so hard. Especially the closer, Hurt just might be the most hard-hitting song of all time, it leaves you in shock after the album is long over. This definitely isn't an album you can listen to all the time but when you do take the time, get ready to feel

As far as a narrative or theme, this album has none, which traditionally would make this a lower-rated album for me, but when your songs are this iconic and energetic, I can't help but love it. and holy heck opening with Dumpweed is probably the coolest thing Blink has ever done

No one expected anything less from Dave Grohl in the '90s, after his also very good, but a bit more low key, debut as foo fighters, Grohl came out swinging with hit after hit on this album, Monkey Wrench, My Hero and Everlong are still some of the most popular songs of the '90s, I'm constantly hearing them on the radio and I still get hyped for 'em every time I hear em.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a mean average rating of 94.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 94.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.9.

Thanks for your rating and comment on my chart. I find yours a very personal chart with some common albums like Illinois or ITCOTCK which I love to see and some interesting emo choices like My Chemical Romance or Death Cab for Cutie. Nirvana too in the top for my liking though. Great job anyways, love to see young people dig in so much music by themselves, I did the same too.

That's a ton of Weezer haha. Blue album and Pinkerton are great. Pretty good list, nice to see a good amount of lesser known stuff because some people only put highly rated albums. Like how much you love Queen. Pink Floyd Obscured by Clouds is underrated. You should check out XTC since you like fun upbeat rock bands like Weezer and such.
