Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by guzguzgarbit
Suggestions/Comments/Ratings/Whatever are welcomed, even encouraged. They make me progress.
Especially if you know anything pre-90s in the liking of any album in my chart.
I tried to put notes (thoughts really) but they may be hard to decipher.
Sometimes thoughts are like flowers, they need time, energy to bloom.
If I write too much at once, the notes will wither.
Added genres... Of course, they can't define everything... but they are useful.
Common/Usual themes : Upward progression, loneliness, hope, liberation, etc.
Thank you for passing by, have the best day of your life.
G.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.8/100, a mean average of 94.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 94.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.2.

I have never seen a chart like this, and I can give strong marks for that alone.
I am very familiar with only a small number of these albums, and have not heard of most of them. However, with the exception of ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ (I am no Floyd fan) and ‘Come with Us’ I mostly like and even love the ones I do know, although I am indifferent to the Cure.
If you were looking for pre-1990s recommendations, I can suggest:
— ‘The United States of America’ by The United States of America
— ‘Hejira’ by Joni Mitchell (if you’re put off by the “folk” label this is totally unique and intensely atmospheric)
— ‘Future Days’ and ‘Soon Over Babaluma’ by Can
— ‘Garlands’, ‘Head Over Heels’, ‘Treasure’ and ‘Victorialand’ by the Cocteau Twins
— ‘Drum’ by Hugo Largo (although from 1988)
— ‘Love Agenda’ by Band of Susans (although from 1989)
Many are unfamiliar to me. This gives me many to hunt down for a listen. Thanks!
C'est bon comme là-bas, dis !

Very leftfield, very interesting.
Finally a chart with some breaks and house albums. Ils, Dosem, Eelke Kleijn, Dusty Kid, Layo & Bushwacka, Way Out West, Elite Force, Hybrid, Noisia. This is the first time I've ever seen any of those albums on this site. I have all those albums and they're all in my charts. Fuckin awesome chart.
Thanks for your review on my chart. Your compliment is incredibly flattering, but wow, going through your chart I can't help thinking the exact same thing for you!
This is awesome! There are very few charts I've seen with such a unique and specific taste. I will have to check out a lot of these albums
Cool! A lot of stuff I'm not too familiar with, and, the stuff I am familiar with, is not what you generally see on an overall chart. Keep it up!
This is sick chart! It's so diverse and with so many incredible albums. From Bjork to Pendulum to Iron Maiden to Massive Attack to... Yeah, love it.
