Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Marswolf68

Well there it is mostly albums fron the 60 & 70's. Even then a lot of albums I love aren't even in the top 100. I need a 1,000+ to adequately show the ones I love! Still buying new in 2023 & love a lot of new releases, but good enough to displace 1 of these Classics No! Albums I Love from 2023 that almost make this 100 include the Stones Hackney Diamonds, Robert Finley-Black Bayou, Screamin At The Sky- Black Stone Cherry & many more....

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 12% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.6/100, a mean average of 88.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.5.

Wow, John Kay started a BEA account! Jk, good chart. I personally don't mind the focus on 60's/70's, particularly since a lot of these are albums that don't usually show up on best-ofs. So many of the Greatest Albums charts have become monotonous, with the same handful of canon titles showing up every time. Thus, it's always fun to see a more heterodox list like this one.

Accept the comments that the chart favours 60's & 70's music. However that is simply because that IMO is when the greatest albums were made. To say I don't listen to other era's as 1 member does is incorrect. I also have a vast collection of 90's to current music & 50's mùsic as can be confirmed in my other decade charts & regularly listen this music. Most albums from other decades, even ones I love, simply do not make my top 100 best albums & that won't change to please others. This is my current best albums & yes they all come from a narrow time period. We are all different thats why making these lists is fun. I can't leave out 1 of the greatest albums in IMO to show I'm being 'fair' to other decades. However the mix will change as I discover albums from other decades that I rate higher than those currently listed. If it was a top 500 the mix may be different!

Like, I get it... but your lack of anything other than 60s and 70s just shows an inability to explore. Lack of music enthusiasm and a stubborn grip against change. That goes for the 50s too.

You have a good selection for what you know though.

Love how you've narrowed your chart down to sixties & seventies releases ! The seventies were the best decade ever and although our tastes are very different you deserve recognition for a very individual chart.
