"As fresh of an approach that Aldous Harding possessed on her previous projects, Designer is ultimately a disappointingly conventional indie folk album, the barest hint of clever piano melodies its only instrumental asset. What saves it from any sentence worse than ‘average’ is Harding’s writing flair, a talent that has continued to serve her well even as her voice transitions from raw and undeveloped to refined and demure. For those unaccustomed to her previous work, this album is more than a worthy starting point to what is hopefully a prosperous career, but as a sequel to as creative a record as Party, it falls regrettably short."

"I've listened to Sunn O))) before and couldn't get into it. I saw this album and thought I'd give them another shot.
This band baffles me. Each song, a chord rings out for 10 seconds, then another chord rings out for 10 seconds, et cetera for 10 minutes. I don't see the appeal. I don't care how detailed the production is, it's so boring."

- thirstyDog (BEA user)

"The purpose of this could very well be to make people fall asleep. If that is the case, then this album is a great success. Music to prevent and/or cure insomnia."

"The album like this can hardly avoid criticism of Tautology. I agree. Boring is Boring. Repetitive is Repetitive. It may stand for a long-term musical subject. Historically,
Structural variation of form is the precautionary measure. But I don't feel Fennesz doing breathtakingly walk on a tightrope of configuration structure. And I think He didn't even try to break the frame of the genre, but just lean his back on the limit in an ultimately cozy and comfortable way."

"Tobacco's beats sound very rudimentary, dare I say similar to those a 10 year-old that only just found out about FL Studio might produce. This takes away a lot from many tracks...

The beats sound very uninspired and dull, not progressing at all, and thus the songs mostly lack personality.

Aesop Rock's Achilles heel has always been finding a melody or a solid hook, and unfortunately this record is no different."

- Team_Horus (RYM user)

"this album sounds like if Danny Brown was sober rapping over beats he made while he was on drugs during the XXX era."

"This is a hard album for me to review because I really want to love it, but there are just so many obstacles in the way. This may be blasphemy for some, but this record is a great lyrical performance held back by a terrible rapping performance. For starters, Quelle Chris' voice just isn't good and the mixing here doesn't do him any favors. His mix is so low that it's hard to even hear him without specifically concentrating on his voice. That may be the point, but it's a negative for me nonetheless. On top of that, the entire album is delivered in the same monotone mood, that combined with the dark repetitive beats, create just a slog to get through. Even most of the choruses are just Chris repeating a line over and over again using the same flow and mood as the verses. There's no energy or personality in his delivery so it leaves us with an incredibly unvaried album and this is music first and foremost."

Man, Webster looks like he really hit rock bottom on that Payroll Giovanni cover.

I'll try to think of some other hater comments for you.

My Only Haters Gonna Hate comment is how badly this needs an update, fool. I really truly deeply sincerely dutifully exponetionally solipistically need to know where you put Floating Points and the Joker soundtrack.

Wish I had the time to listen to everything on your chart. Slowthai, Billy Woods & Kenny Segal, Quelle Chris are all proper classics.

It's also great to see Asheville local Sarah Louise crack your list.
