This album is a jewel, a killing, an absolute masterpiece, an extremely important record for me, and one of the most essential, major records in the history of music, and, in particular, in jazz. "Bitches Brew", this Brouet of Sluts, is an album simply hypnotic, essential, grandiose, an album absolutely unbeatable, as well at Miles (except "Kind Of Blue" which is the best album of all time) that among the other jazzmen. An album that will sell by thousands of copies, and will be variously welcomed: purists will say that this is not true jazz, and young people will appreciate this mix of cultures making them discover a new way to listen to rock. On arrival, a perfect record, huge, monstrous, grrrreat.

Best track: "Pharaoh's Dance" [First added to this chart: 01/21/2019]
"OK Computer" is Radiohead's third and best album. Released in 1997, this album is, for me, the best alternative rock album. Radiohead has always been one of my favorite bands ... It's one of the first rock bands I've listened to (before I only listened to hip-hop) and I became a fan of Thom Yorke and his band. For me, Radiohead is a group that has brought and brings a lot to music. I do not think it's overrated, they really deserve their success. I like all their albums but "OK Computer" remains their biggest masterpiece. This album criticizes society and uses a sound never seen before. This band is part of the band that marked the 90's (with Blur, Massive Attack or Portishead). This album is actually a revolutionary classic. All the songs are perfect: I LOVE THIS ALBUM !!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!

Best track: "Paranoid Android" [First added to this chart: 01/21/2019]
Bob Dylan is actually the best folk artist in rock history. He is also one of the first rock artists to have released a double album with Frank Zappa. This album is called "Blonde On Blonde" and is simply the most ambitious album of Dylan's extraordinary discography. This album is an incredible masterpiece. It would probably be in my list of the 10 most essential rock albums. Dylan is actually my favorite songwriter. It is impossible to love Dylan without loving "Blonde On Blonde", IMPOSSIBLE! The 73 minutes of the album are exceptional and never tired. Worship of the cult.

Best track: "Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" [First added to this chart: 01/21/2019]
Weezer is the band of reference for any follower of contemporary rock. Their debut album is for me one of the best debut rock album I have ever heard. "The Blue Album" is surely the album I've listened to most of all time. During my teenage years, I started to listen to Rock and this album is for me one of the greatest classic of the 90's. When you see the head of the band member on the blue sleeve united you say to yourself "that Is it that these nerds get raided and rejected by the girls? " And you are right. In reality Weezer is an extraordinary group endowed with power and a certain charisma. The singer, Rivers Cuomo knows how to create energetic musics with heavy guitar riffs. Weezer really managed to create a perfect balance between acid and aggressive rock and cheerful and catchy pop. This album is really revolutionary and that's why Weezer remains one of my favorite bands.

Best track: "Say It Ain't So" [First added to this chart: 02/09/2019]
David Bowie is a genius. I know it's not very original to say that, but he's really a music genius. "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust" is surely Bowie's album that gave me the biggest slap. This album is at the origin of the myth Bowie and its emblematic character: Ziggy Stardust. This album tells the story of Ziggy, a bisexual star from the future. This record has a huge influence in the history of rock ... I'm a fan of David Bowie and this album will remain for me his best with "Hunky Dory". But do not forget, for this album: "TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME".
10/10
Best track: "Ziggy Stardust" [First added to this chart: 01/21/2019]
Madvillainy is the result of the collaboration between rapper MF DOOM and beatmaker Madlib. First of all, MF DOOM is one of my favorite rappers: he is a major figure in underground rap and I like the mystery hovering around him. This album is the best rap album of the 2000s and one of the best rap albums of all time. Since "2001" by Dr. Dre released in 1999, rap artists are looking for catchy choruses and entangling melodies: this is the beginning of mainstream rap (with rappers such as 50 Cent or Eminem). Madvillainy is an album against the current, a UFO of the Rap game of the time. On this record, the beats are pretty minimalist and are really melodious or catchy. Otis Jackson (aka Madlib) composed these prod with simplistic tools but returns to the very essence of hip-hop thanks to this simplicity. This album is just awesome and the myth that revolves around is really captivating.

Best track: "All Caps" [First added to this chart: 01/21/2019]
Alert to cult record !!!!
Talking Heads is one of my 5 favorite bands (with Velvet, RATM, Radiohead and Pixies), their originality is extraordinary and their sound is unique and dancing.
In the early 80s, David Byrne and Brian Emo (2 great geniuses of music) create a musical UFO that is probably one of the most cult of all time. "Remain In Light" is totally revolutionary in the use of instruments since it mixes African rhythms and urban electronics. The legendary Talking Heads album remains as danceable and modern. This record is fabulous and visionary.

Best track: "Once In The Lifetime" [First added to this chart: 01/21/2019]
Some albums are indisputable classics, very important elements for the history of music (this is the case of the debut album Velvet Underground, called "The banana album"). Other albums are fundamental albums, favorites of a listener, of a life. The third album of the Velvet Underground, called "The album sofa" which is perhaps not an absolute masterpiece for everyone but edt, for me, an extraordinary album, a friend. The songs on the album are ballads that do not hesitate to bite. They are toxic but are wrapped in charming airs. This album is absolutely genial, Lou Reed is a genius! Yes, The Velvet Underground is my favorite band ...
10/10
Best track: "Pale Blue Eyes" [First added to this chart: 02/09/2019]
Mark Kozelek is my favorite artist of the last years. It is unstoppable: he releases more and more albums and is doing more and more touring. The American is the author of "Benji" (with Sun Kil Moon): an absolute masterpiece. The songs are pure, the album is largely built around his voice and his guitar. The stories told in this album are exciting and very well written. Indeed, I think it's one of the best album of all time in terms of writing. "Benji" is, for me, the biggest album of Mark Kozelek's discography.
10/10
Best track: "Carissa" [First added to this chart: 02/10/2019]
London Calling is, I think, one of the 10 most important rock albums in history. This record is alive and still so fantastic today. The sound of "London Calling" is a perfect blend of punk power and pop sweetness. The album opens on the very cult song, "London Calling". In this album there is no waste: all the songs are perfect in melody and the lyrics are exceptional. The album is really the synthesis of Rock'N'Roll: it mixes rockab ', punk songs that call for riot, reggae rock, pop ... Although the Clash is not actually a punk/hardcore band, I consider them as one of the best punk rock bands in history.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.6/100, a mean average of 94.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 94.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.9.

This chart is perfectly presented, especially for the first 30 entries. It's clear how deeply you adore these albums and your enthusiasm is infectious. Looks like you haven't touched this in a few years, would love to see how your opinion on these records has changed since 2019!
Amazing list!!
Great chart, thoughtful comments.
Detailed, original, and interesting picks, great taste in music, this chart is perfect!
I like your chart. Love people finding Ziggy saw impressive so long after its release and glad that it isn't just a moment in time. Just found RATM recently and it blew me away.

Why. Have. I. Not. Discovered. This. Classy. Ass. Chart. Until. Now???
Undeniably a great, classic chart! Maybe add one album that is a bit more out of left field and personal ;)
We have similar tastes. really like the variety...great chart.
I am surprised that everyone still appreciate the "velvet underground and nico" album.. That came out when I was in 7th grade..so great. never gets old. Came out during the 'summer of love' with 'are you experienced" (may 31st), "sgt pepper"(june 1st) and "surrealistic pillow". amazing
summer for music. and then there was all of the singles being released on AM radio..every day was something new. I can't explain it..I was lucky to have been a kid then.
Amazing top 10, even if I'd keep the same artist and swap another album of theirs. Well balanced and fine choices. 29 artists in common.
This strikes me as a very well thought out objective Greatest Albums chart. You have found 3 albums outside the top 500 on this site and all of those three are inside the top 1000. Do you have some less acclaimed favourites that you believe warrant being in the company of some of these classics? I reckon music appreciation is largely a subjective experience. The objective stuff is important in assessing the best of the best, of course, but surely you have more outliers beyond the top 500 that warrant a call out.
Nonetheless I agree with many of your choices. It’s good to see you have an appreciation for the Icelandic beauty of Sigur Ros and Björk amongst the acclaimed classics.
