Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Crhmgs

Edit: 12/03/2021 this is today's chart of the day, I just want to thank you all for being so nice and reciprocating, there are a lot of artists that I must check out and a lot of things i must put in order before finishing this, to be honest with you, I don't know if i will ever get to finish it, not because I don't want to, but because I don't have too much time nowadays, but yeah, whenever I have the chance to, i will re-visit this chart, delete albums, add albums, etc.

Look, this chart is a mess, mostly because i can't bring myself to advance as much as i would like to. But my idea is to make a chart that it's as equally divided; filled with popular records and with records that i think deserve more attention, a 50/50, if you will... But I don't have that kind of knowledge yet, well, maybe that isn't it, i think it's mostly that i want to pick records that i'll be comfortable with, and as of today i would say im about 30% happy with this chart, and look, I don't want to sound like a total indie guy or like someone who hasn't an opinion on his own either, or maybe even both. i'll try to utilize every space in this chart to say how i feel about the record and why i love it so much and give a little bit of trivia in the process, sometimes i will get so inspired that i will even try to write some bloody awful poetry, even if i know i might not have the widest vocabulary to do it. I do think that the one artist per chart rule is fair, but i don't want to use it, because there are so many records/artists i think they deserve all my love, even if they already had more than enough of it, lol, but that will change in the future (IT DID, SEE "EDIT") it's not like Radiohead or The Strokes need more points on BEA than they already have, so I don't know, we'll see... I do appreciate all feedback and even appreciate that you are here looking at this mess, i will update here each descriptions i have done, if you want to check them out you are free to do so, cause i honestly don't have any idea of when i'm going to finish this, but yeah, that's it.

I might be a lazy af, but when i do get to write, i write a lot (most of the time) so BEWARE.

Ohhh and some of the records have descriptions in both spanish and english just for the sake of it and because they actually help me to get my thoughts together and to do a more focused inspection on the record, BUT i will translate all that, so don't worry.

Descrpitions made so far:

- Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
- The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen
- Kanye West - The College Dropout
- Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News (This record has now been removed from this chart, but the original description is in my other chart, which is a recollection of the records that were in here, but for a reason were eliminated)
- GZA- Liquid Swords
- Yes - Fragile
- Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
-Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
-Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
-The Doors - Morrison Hotel
-The Cars - The Cars
-Babasónicos - Jessico (already translated)
-Pre)Thing - 22nd Century Lifestyle

Well, if you see more descriptions that aren't mentioned in here it might be because a) they aren't finished yet b) they suck... But anyway you are free to read them as well, I will try to finish them/improve them later... i just had a Déjà vu about this...

Well, enjoy!

EDIT: I'm totally convinced now that this chart sucks lol, don't get me wrong, I do love every single record i picked, but there is so much wasted potential and empty spaces that all in all, it just doesn't feel right, so I finally decided to improve it a little bit. You see, my biggest fear with this chart was not being able to give as many points as i think an artists deserve, and. I am truly sorry for every record that was left behind, i wish i could give every one of them 100 points, haha, but since i can't do that i will do my best to make this chart look how i think it should look. So as of now, i will apply the one artist per chart rule (EXCEPT for The Afghan Whigs, I really love that band) And additionally, i will do another chart with the albums that were eliminated from their position within the chart and also i will do another with my favorite records, so i won't have to be limited by the same rule again.

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers had an established name in the world of rock music in the early 80's, with a lot of great record on their sleeve such as their self-titled debut and "Damn The Torpedoes". But being completely honest their fire seemed to be a little low, even if songs like "Don't Come Around Here No More" were successful in the mid 80's. And that's not a surprise considering bands like Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers and even Nirvana were on their way to become the next big thing. Out of nowhere Petty decided to hang out with some of their friends and then they made a little band called "The Traveling Wilburys" that had SOME OF THE MOST BRILLIANT MUSICAL MINDS EVER; George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan and during this process, Petty had the idea of releasing a solo record (which still has the participation of some of the Heartbreakers) produced by Lynne, Petty and Mike Campbell (guitarist of The Heartbreakers) "Full Moon Fever" turned out to be the biggest success of Petty's career.

"Free Fallin'" might be the greatest Tom Petty song, it's a simple 3 chord song that will stay in your head forever, seriously who hasn't scream the chorus of this song from the top of their lungs? This is in my top 10 favourite songs ever, such a classic and enjoyable song. "I Won't Back Down" brings George Harrison at the guitar, he aslo sings in the chorus, and even more, in the video you can even see Ringo Starr as well, even if he doesn't play in the recording it's nice to have 2/4 of The Beatles around, Another catchy song, memorable and epic. "Love Is A Long Road" many people might disagree but, it is my least favourite song out of the record, i know it's still pretty good, i like it, but i could never bear myself to love it. The freightening "A Face In The Crowd" is one song of a kind, very atmospheric, deep and emotionally beautiful track, it amazes me how underrated it is in comparison with other tracks of the record, i love the video of the song too, it is like a nightmare that somehow makes you hopeful for something to happen, but you know it is just a bad dream. Then of course, we have the classic "Running Down A Dream", i swear this song is so simple yet so good that makes you want to drive at full speed by the highway... and i don't even know how to drive! and that guitar solo, my god! is simply perfect, Mike Campbell went full legend on this one, for sure.

Simply stunning.

Back when i first listened to Kanye, I thought MBDTF was his masterpiece, his most perfect record and did not gave any credit to The College Dropout, I even thought Late Registration was better, and as the time went by, my fascination towards MBDTF went lower, my opinion of Late Registration is pretty much the same, but The College Dropout turned into something else for me. I mean, i cannot wrap my head around how Kanye managed to do make this album, his debut record as good as it is, I mean, it is so inspiring the amount of creativity he has speaking from both, production and lyrical level, all the samples, all the little connections between concepts, and how the main theme of the record flows within those ideas always blows me away.

The skits are funny, and sarcastic and they flow flawlessly through the record. "We Don't Care" is a great opener, always entertaining to listen to and it undoubtly introduces the idea of the album and how Kanye thinks. "It All Falls Down" is one of the highlights of the records, the first chord of that guitar will always mantain you in the mood for what's next. "Jesus Walks" might not only be the greatest track of the record, it may well be one of the greatest tracks Kanye has ever done, period. "Slow Jamz" utilizes a sample from Luther Vandross (who is also mentioned in the song) it also marks the start of Jaime Foxx's musical career and Twista's verse is killer. "Family Business" is a sweet song about how the flaws of your loved ones are sometimes the things you miss the most when they are away from you, or viceversa. I even love "Kanye's Workout Plan" i find it hilariously funny and a prior step towards the electronic direction Kanye would start to show during Gradution era and finally perfectioned with MBDTF.

Can't get enough of this record; it's somewhat innocent/light hearted, it's great, it's funny, it's astonishingly creative, it's social critique is still pretty relevant, and in my opinion, it's still Kanye's greatest work.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.2/100, a mean average of 94.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 94.2/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.1.

Just here for the descriptions. Your music preference is your own. The justification is what makes the list great. Keep it up.

Always happy to see LCD up on top. Surprised to not see any Arcade Fire / Sigur Ros / War on Drugs. Feel like they'd tie-in well with your other albums on here. Cheers.
