Weird. For example... Sly and the stone family are good, but pick a compilation and a studio album of them in the same overall chart is a mistake.

While many albums listed are good or well received and influential, there's not much diversity in terms of country or era and influential might not always equate to the greatest, so, while many are good, I don't think 500 greatest of all time is completely accurate.

Una absoluta porquería de lista, de inicio a fin, sin nada rescatable. Rolling Stone es una de las peores revistas estadounidenses y uno de los medios impresos que más daño le han hecho a la música.

Everyone is going to state how this list is biased towards the 60s/70s, which is true. But the more interesting thing is how it is biased towards legends from the 50s and early 60s. For instance 21 and 22 are compilation albums from Chuck Berry and Robert Johnson that rank on this sight 1010 and 1727. In doing so Rolling Stone is willing to place the importance of the artist, ahead of the impact or listen-ability of a given record. This makes the list an interesting read, although I certainly prefer the composite list here for an overall rank guide.

Points taken off for putting Pet Sounds at #2, a move so idiotic it still haunts me.

The belief that this chart is not so much 'greatest albums' but more 'most influential/culturally impactful' only need to look at the absence of the highest ranked album on this site; OK Computer. Instead Kid A has made it onto the chart as the only Radiohead album (and I love Kid A). OK Computer is easily one of the most 'influential' albums of all time and was more influential culturally than Kid A which turned off a lot of diehard Radiohead fans, and many music fans in general when it was released, and is still considered inaccessible to the many music fans. The mere fact that a site like this, that draws in music nerds, has OK Computer miles in front based on online popularity and critical acclaim would suggest that it should at the very least register high on Rolling Stone's chart as well.

    This chart is utter garbage.

Rolling Stone is a magazine that caters to their fan base, which loves classic rock. It is admirable that they have stuck to it for so long, and have spent time becoming the authority in that space. That being said, it is a bit about that they try to make this some kind of inclusive list with modern albums all just being worse than their favorite old albums. I've seen rolling Stone give Bob Dylan rereleases their #1 album of the year as recently as a few years ago. That is just a lack of awareness and shows that they aren't looking at the current impact of the music that is coming out.

Public Enemy shouldn't be the only artist resembling rap in the top 50. Kendrick's influence is already significantly greater than some from the top 50.
