Top 100 Music Albums of the 1970s by mrmcrook 
I realize my chart has a lot of compilations and many people believe compilations shouldn't count. The reason I have included them is so I can add a few bands/artists that have fantastic music and should be recognized. Otherwise the list will be hugely dominated by a dozen bands that everyone knows has a huge number of worthy albums. Hence why the large amount of compilations and live albums.
Any footnotes are just personal ramblings for my own entertainment.
And to remind me of the joy the music brings before all memory is erased.

This was the first Sabbath album I bought. Had just started the joy of my own music collection and had just discovered and began my obsession with Heavy Metal. Being still young, inexperienced and naive at the time I thought the lyrics to 'Sweet Leaf', " My life is free now, my life is clear. I love you sweet leaf, though you can't hear, oh yeah", was in regards to being in love with someone who was deaf. Ha ha ha. What a fucking idiot.

The album that is the true birth of heavy metal. A fantastic debut album on any level. Still defining the sound which was to immortalize them. There cover is 'Evil Woman' is great. As is the mainly instrumental Sleeping Village/Warning. One of their better albums. Never forget how brilliant this is.

Early Sabbath do no wrong. Even when massively coked up during the writing and making of this, they still produce an album of a caliber that most bands will never even get close to. An all round classic that never fails to deliver. 'Laguna Sunrise' will be played at my funeral when I'm dead. My all time favorite instrumental
