Top 100 Music Albums of the 1970s by mrmcrook

I realize my chart has a lot of compilations and many people believe compilations shouldn't count. The reason I have included them is so I can add a few bands/artists that have fantastic music and should be recognized. Otherwise the list will be hugely dominated by a dozen bands that everyone knows has a huge number of worthy albums. Hence why the large amount of compilations and live albums.

Any footnotes are just personal ramblings for my own entertainment.
And to remind me of the joy the music brings before all memory is erased.

Zeppelin is a strange beast. So many fantastic albums. The hard thing I find for myself is which I think is best. Goes in circles. Led Zep II held the title for many years. IV was always knocking at the door. But over the past few years III has been the one I keep returning to and loving everything on it. So it holds the title. For now. All hail the Zep. The album that is the true birth of heavy metal. A fantastic debut album on any level. Still defining the sound which was to immortalize them. There cover is 'Evil Woman' is great. As is the mainly instrumental Sleeping Village/Warning. One of their better albums. Never forget how brilliant this is. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]

The forgotten and ignored Floyd. This deserves much more accolades than it gets. There's a couple of places where they go off on experimental noise segments that let it down a fraction but overall it rightly holds it's place in the magnificent Floyd canon. Deserves to be placed higher than some of their albums ranked above it. [First added to this chart: 01/20/2022]

Hard and raw. Early shades of punk. Iggy really is a legend. The last track is what stops me rating this higher. I didn't see the point. Tarnishes what is otherwise a true classic [First added to this chart: 12/07/2021]

I'm slightly amazed that I've never had a Creedence album before now. It's 03/23. Probably due to them being so thrashed in growing up party days, I was over saturated hence never bothered getting anything from them. I knew most tracks on this already but the one's I didn't know I find the better one's. [First added to this chart: 04/05/2023]

This took a bit of warming up to but getting better and better with each listen. The sum of all parts equals greatness. John Entwistle is the king of bass players. Keith one of the kings of drumming. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]
