Top 100 Music Albums of the 1970s by mrmcrook

I realize my chart has a lot of compilations and many people believe compilations shouldn't count. The reason I have included them is so I can add a few bands/artists that have fantastic music and should be recognized. Otherwise the list will be hugely dominated by a dozen bands that everyone knows has a huge number of worthy albums. Hence why the large amount of compilations and live albums.

Any footnotes are just personal ramblings for my own entertainment.
And to remind me of the joy the music brings before all memory is erased.

It was my older brothers record collection which gave me my first taste of music from a very young age. This was in it and one I used to sneak listens to when I could. Shows how timeless and fantastic it is as I still get the same joy out of it now as I did when I was 5. All hail the Floyd [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]

This is another of the albums from the older brothers record collection I was subjected to often from a very early age. Hence it became ingrained within me. No complaints though. I love it. Once I got to the age where I started fucking it was what I put on as the mood/background music. Great that it's also the theme to The Exorcist. Doesn't that say it all. What a lousy fuck I must of been. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]

This was the first Bowie album I listened to and owned. Hence why it's my favorite. Grew on me well. Always interesting how most of the time the first album you get of an artist/band your discovering seems to stick as one of your favorite. That's happened a lot with me. Not all though. But this is a bloody fine album hence I don't really need to explain myself as why this is placed so high. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]

Yet another masterpiece from Alice. Again, all killer, no filler. During the early 70's this man was just on fire. His series of albums during this period are the most under rated within the rock world. A fantastic addition to any collection for rock fans. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]

One of my favorite of all compilations. Every song an all time brilliant classic. And with 28 of them, that's pretty good. As golden as you can get. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]

This is another one from the brothers collection so I had an early introduction to this hence it's very ingrained in my musical consciousness. . Not a massive Elton fan but this is just chocka full of top notch tunes. And for a double album, that's impressive. Well deserved on it's place within the top 100. My all time favorite blues album. It's got rhythm. It's got blues. It's got boogie. The sum of all parts makes close to perfection. Fucking outstanding. Best album they've made. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2020]
