Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Tamthebam

I love all types of music it doesn't matter to me if the artist is considered "cool" or not. I've been collecting music for over 50 years and these are the albums I've listened to the most. I love to try and listen to everything an artist has recorded. I love music to enhance my moods I like albums that give an atmosphere/a theme, whether that is in Soul/ R n B, country, folk, jazz, indie, rock or "easy listening" or pop music. My favourite decade is the 70's. Its 2024 and I just realised that the majority of my chart is female ! This was not a conscious decision it just happened

A great album from Lucinda Williams she just gets better with age. Her southern drawl works on these sad melancholy songs. This album needs more than one or two listens before it sinks in and touches you. The standout tracks are Dust, Place In My Heart, Louisiana Story, the title track & If My Love Could Kill but the rest are all good. If you like to wallow in melancholy take a listen to this. A really good Radiohead album listened to as a whole it is a relaxing experience as is their album Rainbows. It reminds me of Bjork's Vespertine very similar instrumentation, and otherworldly feel to it. My favourite tracks are the first 3 & Full Stop, Identikit & True Love Waits. Genius at work. Lucinda at her best. A great album full of her usual melancholy and vision. Country rock, blues and a track (Awakening) that made me think Neil Young. Not a bad track here, she is just amazing. [First added to this chart: 09/18/2015]

A real return to form her best album since the 1997 release Velvet Rope. It sounds current and very few "fillers" and none of those annoying 10 sec. interlude tracks ! [First added to this chart: 07/20/2020]

A beautiful album from Sufjan recorded after the death of his mother Carrie, it is reminiscent of the sparse instrumentation featured in his album Seven Swans unlike Age of Adz it is not electronic, it explores themes about relationships with his mother and also the relationship between Carrie and his step father Lowell Brams. I like this album one of the best albums released in the 2010's It is by far Rihanna's best album a mature laid back modern RnB sound prevails throughout. She sounds great and there are no Pop songs here. Best tracks are Work, Woo, Kiss It Better & Love On The Brain. [First added to this chart: 01/01/2017]

Amazing live album the "2nd & 3rd Acts" are brilliant Act II expands the story behind the Ninth Wave and improves on the original! She sounds good her voice has grown deeper so there is nothing here from her first 4 albums but the versions of Top Of the City & Neve Be Mine have been improved upon, and the cheer that erupts during the first few bars of Running Up That Hill is spine tingling. Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 14% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.5/100, a mean average of 87.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.2.

Seems like a good list to explore when I want to find some new R&B artists and albums. And I too love Stevie Wonder.

Great chart! Love how high you rated David Bowie's "Outside" it's so good! Also fantastic seeing REMs album "Up" it's so underrated. Also multiple Bjork is a plus. Found your chart through Erykah Badu's album "Baduizm" really dig her, really like "Worldwide Underground"
