Top 100 Music Albums of the 1980s by mrmcrook 
The 80's was the decade when a lot of premium metal came out. It was the time when I was obsessed with it. My tastes expanded in future years but overall the albums of the heavier nature put out during this time massively dominate this list.
I realize my chart has a lot of compilations and many people believe compilations shouldn't count. The reason I have included them is so I can add a few bands/artists that have fantastic music and should be recognized. Otherwise the list will be hugely dominated by a dozen bands that everyone knows has a huge number of worthy albums. Hence why the large amount of compilations and live albums.
Any footnotes are just personal ramblings for my own entertainment.
And to remind me of the joy the music brings before all memory is erased.

I've always had a bit of an anti towards U2. Probably due to their commercialism. But I must say, this is a decent album. Many hits, but it's those which aren't that actually give this more credibility.

This was my initial introduction to Marillion. It took me quite a while to warm to it. I found it started a bit too AOR pop for my liking which threw me, but once the prog rock solidifies it flows perfectly. It does segue really well. Grew on me nicely. Decent album

The best way to describe this is a combination of earliest 'Sabbath' and hard rock/proto-metal band 'Dust.' It's not bad but does sound quite flat and drab throughout. Would of benefited massively from better production.

This is what the Cult sound like. Unmistakable. The 'hits' are the best songs on this album. No hidden deep cut gems. Rest is alright but nothing spectacular

The title track's pretty iconic. With the earlier albums from George, you know what you're getting. And this is as George as you can get.
