The "White Album" has more great songs than entire discographies of other artists, while at the same time carrying some of The Beatles' most ridiculous tunes (and some of the latter are actually good) Despite all this unevenness, the record as a whole sounds spontaneous and creatively boundless.
This is not a perfect, round album, so I am not sure why it generates such a strong feeling in me. I see it as a warm, nostalgic, playful, weird and powerful collection of songs. Listening to the White Album is always an event for me; an event that requires paying attention and showing deference to the genius involved in putting all this outstanding music together.

What an amazing collection of music! George Harrison reaches his peak, with two of his best ever songs while the medleys on the "B side" are some of the most beautiful music ever created by The Beatles. Even Ringo has a fun song here!

Maybe the most influential album of all time. The record that more than any other showed artists that they could be inventive and try different genres, sounds and topics. Rubber Soul started the conversation about The Beatles being actual musical geniuses and not just a bunch of kids playing to be pop idols.
It features 4 of the best songs ever written by John Lennon: ¨Norwegian Wood¨, ¨Nowhere Man¨, ¨Girl¨and ¨In My Life¨ but In Rubber Soul each song is a work of art.

Each and every song is very good, very different from each other and extremely adventurous. You can hear how the creativity of the band just explodes in many directions. The album cover is also very interesting and a huge step forward. The reason why it doesn't rank in the top 5 is because, although all the album is great, there are less songs that I consider "10/10", as opposed to more perfect songs in Rubber Soul, The White Album and Abbey Road.
I think this album sounds a little bit too "shiny" or "polished" and would love to hear it with a different production. Maybe a bit of a rougher less sterilized sound. [First added to this chart: 06/28/2012]

It has: Let it Be, Get Back, Across the Universe, The Long and Winding Road, Two of Us, Dig a Pony,I Me Mine, I´ve Got a Feeling and For You Blue. All the previous songs are 10/10.
Yes, three songs are not good (Dig It, Maggie Mae and One After 909) but altogether is not only good but great!

It's a great album for opening so many new concepts in recorded music: sonically experimental with extensive use of the recording studio; popularizing the concept of a record as a single unit, as opposed to a collection of songs; adding the lyrics in the album back cover; etc. Musically it has some good songs and others that are actually very bad, but the whole works better than the sum of its parts. A huge % of the greatness of this album is "A Day In The Life" which besides being one of the best examples of collaboration between Lennon and Mc Cartney, it's probably the best song ever (in this website it is actually number 1)
If The Beatles had included Strawberry Fields + Penny Lane and ditched around 4 of the weaker songs, this will be the best record ever, no disputes. [First added to this chart: 07/04/2012]

Really cool chart, great comments which you added for pretty much every album. Lots of recommendations for Spanish- and Portuguese-language music. Based on the albums in your list that I know and love, I'm sure to find something I like from the albums I haven't heard.

Nice diversity - especially with the number of Latin American & jazz inspired artists/albums ~ definitely unique in that sense and says something about your personal tastes. Personally, I didn't get all that excited by your selections ~ which says something about my personal tastes.
I am sure the following observation will change over time, but I was intrigued by what I guess is a coincidence in your chart having 11 albums in each decade of the 80's, 90's, 00's & 10's.
BTW, nice to see one entry from Australia.

I have mixed emotions about this chart on the whole.
‘Escafandra’ is at large not wrong about it being good in terms of its variety chronologically and its regional scope. The former is something I demand of charts; whilst the latter does add a great deal of interest. The jazz albums also add a lot of interest although they are by no means unique. However, I must say that the chart is weak on one decade – the 1990s, from which the albums included – with the conspicuous exception of ‘Dummy’ – really are to my mind overrated at best.

You put the Beatles on number 1 what is clearly cool. But i like the rest of your list as much as i can. Some artists i don´t know before from Spain and Brazil but that makes the diversity .

You put a lot of effort on this. Really good chart with amazing picks. Im more of a Revolver/Highway 61 kind of guy. Though theres good tracks im not too fond of White Album/Desire. I 100% agree on Sgt Pepper though, Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane shouldve replaced some of those weaker songs.

I hope you liked La Barranca. Just came to check your recommendations. Now I'll have to pay more attention to Low, I've heard some songs but I will check that album. It was hard for me to put Beatles' White Album for the same reason as yours: it is so irregular. But I guess we put it there for that exact reason, I love those albums where you can tell the band is finding exactly different sounds and ideas that's why I love Pearl Jam's No Code or Radiohead's Kid A.
