101-200 Albums of 2021 by Mercury

Some of these albums are very good and it was hard taking them off top 100 of year. I really love this year in music so far. Also, a good few of these will be revisited and commented upon later down the line and, who knows, may rise high in and into the top 100.

I will now start another chart which is 2021 spill overs or 1-and-Dones (what this chart was for months). I had to make a spreadsheet like a dork because I know that soon this will get freaking way way to confusing to keep in order across 3 charts. Hope someday we have longer chart sizes.

(Really excellent Shoegaze album with some really incredible waves of guitar and some really dope melodic post punk thrown in to spice it up a bit.)

Hi Folks, This is Shoegaze Album by Radio Supernova. Shoegaze Album by Radio Supernova, these folks here are BEA Members. They are very excited to meet you! *SgAbRS smiles, says hello, and then walks into other room so I can talk about it with y'all privately*

It says right here on this here computah screen that they (Radio Supernova) are a Finnish band. And I gotta say, I like this album. Never once did I say to my music listening device "Finish, Band!". lol. I'm sorry.

It's 3am and I should be asleep but I can't sleep but what I can do is listen to this album 4 times straight. So, that's what I'm doing.

Along with Epic Waves of Gauzy Shoegaze guitar sounds, there are parts of this album that are almost punky. Those moments are more sharp and more jagged and clear and less dreamy, "Eroosio" is a great example of this with its propulsive drums and its echoing guitars.

The singer is great, the way she surfs these waves of sound is really quite gorgeous. The drummer and the guitarists are great, the bass player too, and if there is a keyboardist or harmonica player somewhere in there they also are great. really the whole thing is quite good to ....well, great. (I'm doing a terrible job describing this album, apologies.)

Well, look, to be honest, I have only ever heard maybe 10-20 shoegaze albums. So, I don't have much of a frame of reference for the sounds here. Even with my limited experience I can hear that this band isn't changing the game or doing anything super groundbreaking What they are doing is taking all the coolest parts of shoegaze and post punk and dream pop and kinda mixing them up and making a beautiful fucking album!

That's it. That's all I got. Check this album out. I think its good and sounds cool and stuff.

(At its best this is out-of-body-inducing spiritual stuff. At its worst its still stellar but probably just a bit far outside of my area of familiarity that I can't quite pin down what it is doing or trying to do. The singing, the traditional and electronic instrumentation and the way these elements play off each other is captivating and refreshing.)

The vocal arrangements here are brilliant. They seem to be improvised traditional Joik chants mixed with some slight affects here and there. The way the vocals meld with the instruments and electronic track is mesmerizing and otherworldly.

The music is a fascinating mix of traditional folk and electronica (I don't like the word that is usually created to express this mix so I won't type it here on this beautiful album's page lol). The music mostly evokes deep-thinking peacefulness, and sometimes it can get quite hectic such as on the last part of track 2.

To say this is a musical territory unfamiliar to me would be an understatement. Sometimes such a huge departure from anything I usually listen to can lead to an uncomfortable or confused experience as I try to work out what is going on and how the music fits in to what I have heard. With this album, though, it was a warm and inviting and captivating experience from start to finnish.

(yes i am sorry.)

Impressive!...in both quality (of the insightful and descriptive notes and comments) and quantity (I'm only up to 69 2021 albums for the year as of now and I think I listen to a lot...wrongly I guess, hah!)
