Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 83.8/100, a mean average of 83.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.0.

Some recs for ya: In The Aeroplane Over The Sea By Neutral Milk Hotel (wouldn't be suprised if you've heard it before), Forever Changes By Love (poppy and psychedelic --- if you like The Beatles), Grace By Jeff Buckley, When the Pawn... By Fiona Apple, If You're Feeling Sinisiter By Belle & Sebastian.

I appreciate where you are coming from. Glad to see the Australian artists included and some of my own lesser known favourites get into your chart - Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds, Wallflowers, Cowboy Junkies, Tracy Chapman.

Definitely a personal list with a very interesting mixture of genres and styles. It's lists like this one that makes this site so worthwhile.

More pop than my own list but I don’t think this reflects how much I like the music on your list. I enjoy most of it. Nice to see Disintegration so high. I am curious to check out the Tori Amos album you said is underrated, and finally, John Grant’s inclusion-respect!
