Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 12% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.7/100, a mean average of 87.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.4.

Great chart. Love the representation of metal along with a good mix of other genres. A lot of fantastic albums in common that made my decade charts but not quite my overall top 100 chart. Double thumbs up. One of the better lists I favor
thank you jason!!! i used to follow the 1 album per artist rule back when it seemed really in vogue to me, but especially when an artist has a varied output, such limitations are just useless! its cool to be a fanboy sometimes ;)
also, i think you'd really like hinds, if you haven't listened to them before! i like em loads, so much fun
I’m kinda intrigued, good job! Let me help you with getting into hip hop: try the Wu-Tang Clan, maybe you will like Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s solo work, but that’s not really for beginners.
Great chart fellow Angelino.
A lot of it is not really my thing, but huge respect for the detail of the notes, well done!
Descriptions are perfect!
GREAT METAL CHART
Upon liking the Facebook page for BEA your chart was top of the page as the 'chart of the day' or whatever they call it. I took a look and was most impressed with the analysis you offer for each choice. So, no matter if I disagree with any choices you make it is all made good by what appears to be a fairly astute knowledge of music and a deep passion driving it. I too am attempting to roll out a thorough analysis of the 100 albums I have cobbled together. Nice work!
I will say that you seem to begrudgingly include a Radiohead album. Whatever prejudices you may have developed, try to get past them and fully immerse yourself in their genius. I went from metal to Radiohead and never looked back. Also, I like your Overkill inclusion but my selection would be Horrorscope which I believe is a truly underrated metal masterpiece. It has superb production and it just rumbles along magnificently.
Magnificent list and magnificent comments
