Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 88.7/100, a mean average of 87.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.3/100. The standard deviation for this track is 14.8.

Finally a contemporary pop artist putting in words what I feel about the music of today. Luckily there are some exceptions like her.

Like some twisted reworking of a classic Lennon/McCartney song, splayed out against pop culture references and nostalgia to feel anything for the crazy times we live in, Del Rey gives us one of the most heartbreaking songs of the decade. And that heartbreak isn't for romance, but for a life and a culture that feels like it has meaning.

The Californian dream of sun-drenched fame is dead, the American dream is dead, and no amount of Instagram and Twitter will save us; 'The Greatest' is the headstone for its grave. Utterly, utterly stunning.

Lyric of the year goes to:
"The culture is lit, and if this is it‚ I had a ball
I guess that I'm burned out after all"
