"This must be history’s best aged album; I never expected myself enjoying a ‘50s album so much, yet here I am. The peak of rock ‘n’ roll and the beginning of soul; Otis Redding’s biggest inspiration and John Lennon’s biggest idol."  Reply

"I love this album. I bought my first Monk album after reading a NME obituary in 1982. He sounded great and the album did not disappoint. There was a great picture that went with the article and it was framed and lived on my walls until it got badly damaged around 10 years ago."  Reply

"Buddy Holly and the Crickets were not the genesis of modern rock and guitar pop, but they certainly sat at the threshold of rock n' roll hitting the mainstream. After all, I believe The Beatles, who were massively influenced by the Crickets, were discouraged to continue with guitar music, as it w..."    Reply

"Rollins is an exceptional blower and this is his most outstanding outing. Challenging yet melodic in composition, full of excellent improvisation, and while Sonny is the star, all members of the ensemble contribute to make this whole greater than the sum of its parts and cement this as one of the..."    Reply

"A solid compilation of cool jazz, love the short briefness of each track and is very easy to listen to. However, at its time it already kinda sounded outdated compared to the hard bop and modal jazz he was working on and definitely doesn't have that edge that his later work does."  Reply

"I heard that lonesome whistle blow reminds me of Hank Williams. Great country album. Johnny Cash's debut shows how serious/true this man's heart has been. Cry Cry Cry, Folsom, I walk the line, are key tracks."  Reply

"Chuck Berry's first album from 1957 is mostly a collection of single and EP tracks. Only three songs had not been released previously. Highlights are the songs written in the classic Berry rock'n roll style; "School Days", "Too Much Monkey Business" and "Brown Eyed Handsome Man". The first two we..."    Reply

"The King of Slow... and I mean that as a compliment. Anyone that's a musician knows that slow tempos are actually harder, and he's the master. Plus he can rock... easily one of the best musicians to walk the earth. His voice and soul... Ain't that love, Mess Around, This Little Girl of Mine, I've..."    Reply
