"Psychedelic Rock blended with some jazz-driven Blues. Fire is the highlight track here, obviously, but this record has great other tunes too. The absence of electric guitar and the proeminent organ lines give an exotic feeling to these songs." Reply

"Understandably overshadowed by what would come later from the Mk II version of the band. However, this is a very solid debut album that the Mk I version of the band would never be able to top. Hush, Mandrake Root, Help!, and Hey Joe are all great." Reply

"A very strong debut album. Hints at what Tull were to become but stand out. Their 3 earlier albums (Stand Up, This Was & Benefit) are blues rock and stand slightly apart from the rest of their musical corpus. If you are into late 60s-early 70s blues-rock, these early Tull albums are essential." Reply

"Revolutionary yet just the slightest bit headache-inducing. Hopefully humans of the future will encounter it in centuries time, seeing it as a truly bold and genre-defying album - it currently doesn't have the level of acclaim or popularity that it should have.
