"The Mars Volta's debut album is one of the few contemporary prog rock albums worth listening to. Telling a story stranger than that on almost any other album (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is the only album which can match its tale's strangeness). Combine that with Cedric's unique vocal talents ..."  [+]  Reply

"So overrated. How many songs about anger can a band have? There's some musical talent here, but they need to spend many sessions in the counsellor's office before they can write about something else besides pain, loss, anger and how the world sucks. Maybe lock them in a room with Elmo?"  Reply

"Scariest listen of my life. Ending with Magic Window was the most nerve-racking couple minutes ever, even after multiple listens. This album is the epitome of an underrated masterpiece"  Reply

"The perfect distillation of Jigga. It's better lyrically than everything that came afterwards, and the beats are the best he's ever rapped over. It's not as good as Reasonable Doubt IMO, but if someone asked me for a starting point for listening to Jay-Z then it'd be this. Anyone that thinks the ..."  [+]  Reply

"This record will always have a special place in my heart, as it was the first DOOM I ever listened to. In my eyes, this album cements why DOOM is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) producers of all time. The production is so amazing and weird and I absolutely love all the strange and nerdy..."  [+]  Reply

"A strong album certainly, but I also feel it is a bit overrated by music critics. They are reaching for something unique and new, but they have yet to make a really great album."  Reply

"Somehow, after 3 years of listening to Porcupine Tree, I just realized how amazing the song Prodigal is. That one song brings the entire album together into one cohesive thing, instead of just an excellent collection of tracks. Blows my mind. I'm starting to think this might be better than Deadwi..."  [+]  Reply
