Yeh, Spotify is superb, if you can stand the odd advert, then it's great - it has encouraged me to listen to so much more! 😄

Unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions Spotify is not yet available in the United States! 🙁

Scaruffi is a fascinating man though- even if he thinks the Beatles were a negative force on rock music- everyone's gotta find a way to make people read their shit

THIS ^ is the best of 'em all, IMO.

He is like a combination of experimental junkie (Scaruffi) and.....well, the casual listener/rock critic.

Like me. 😁

He acts like The Beatles didn't influence anybody. Plus, he seems to think that only the genres which Beefheart influenced are of any importance. And he gives Abbey Road a 7/10, while giving Revolver a 5/100. Which is absolutely mind-boggling. And don't even get me started about the senselessness of his rating of The White Album. And how he thinks that length is important for a song. I mean, seriously, Beefheart didn't make that many long songs either, compared to The Beatles......
And how The Doors and The Byrds were more influential than The Beatles, and how Exile is better than anything The Beatles have done is beyond me. Even seeing the "criteria" he seems to have, it just doesn't make sense.
And he says about Freak Out! that Frank Zappa made a double album while people were barely making LPs.......and he implies on his Beatles page that the only great music is music that is about rebellion and anger and whatever else, and that any three-minute catchy pop song is worthless, and that trying to be optimistic in a troubled time makes your songs outdated or something.

Hey look, I wrote such a long post! So my post must be great, right?
