Rock, and I'll include electronica and rap and jazz (and maybe even blues), are what's instantly available in the US and Europe; it's our countries' musics that we grow up listening to in the same fashion that a Burundian listens to drum music and probably doesn't know who Daft Punk is, because that's what they grew up listening to.

You shouldn't take this as that no one here is trying to expand, I'm trying to get into African rythms and I know jewsom and Naples have a thread dedicated to Tropicalia for example.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I don't like putting something in my chart if I feel really ignorant about, so I'm going to explore African rhythms until I feel comfortable that I have found one that I really like, rather than just something that I picked up and happens to sound cool.

@ well said purple !

but before going ahead in this discussion, it's intresting to see your chart bolle, because you can see ours. don't know how to answer to your posts because may be you want us to have more Britney Spears or Mika in our charts

So what do you suggest we listen to?

Usually when someone bitches on here about how everyone is a moron and bands suck they at least tell us what they like.

I went alittle overboard to get my message across.

But comeon, just now I heard a Fall out boy song.

Its like Bob dylan said about todays music, they are still clinging to the 60s, not much inventiveness going on.

Have you lost your mind?

I think it's important to remember that certain sites will attract certain tastes... many who have a deeper appreciation for Jazz, or some other genre predominantly, will have perhaps visited here, and seen the general tenre, and moved on to a site that more comfortably fits their tastes... Demographics.

...And rock has been the biggest influence on musical culture over the last 50 or so years, with the broadest exposure for most under that age,so it's natural that that should be reflected here. Especially in light of the fact that more modern pop culture is still current, it does not enjoy the time older bands and albums have had to work their influence, both on music, and on peoples lives.
