If you were floating in the middle of space...

Oh, shit, you meant in intergalactic space? Yeah, it'd be dark as shit. You wouldn't be able to see yourself or your friend. You'd see a bunch of galaxies, though, in the distance. It'd look super-rad.

I would think you could probably see yourself. I mean, from video we've seen from space it looks like shuttles and everything show up fine...

But I'm not a scientist.

That's only because our shuttles haven't really gone that far from our own sun. It doesn't take the sun long to reach what we've sent out. In deep space, though (or, the preferable term, "intergalactic space") at certain points one can find themselves several lightyears away from the nearest light source, so it'd be pretty dark. Not necessarily PITCH BLACK, but certainly dark.

So I'm beginning to think this might be the right answer. At least I am not the only one who would find it extremely strange and quite wonderful to be not able to see yourself at all yet have everything so bright. I mean, the shear number of stars and galaxies in view would mean there would be more light than dark spaces. Yet putting your hand in front of you and making a chunk of it turn pitch black? It would be a very strange thing indeed if that was the case. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Also, just to be sure - Outlaw, are you on acid? Because I know I'm not the only person here who is wondering.

No, I've never taken that before. Have people been talking about me taking acid? Do people on acid talk about simular things I do?

๐Ÿคฃ nah, it's just the content of some of your topics can get a little... psychedelic.

Also, deep space wouldn't actually be all that bright. Because your lightyears away from the nearest light source, a lot of the lone stars would be ultra-dim and the light from the bigger galaxies would pretty much drown them all out (in fact, the "galactic light pollution" would probably make it hard to see a lot of the cool stuff). It'd be super pretty, for sure, though.
