I'd highly recommend everyone listen to Panopticon and You Fail Me. Both exceptional metal releases.

I really enjoy listening to Panopticon for about ten minutes or so as I like its sound, but it grows pretty tiresome as I hear close to zero variation and the soft-loud-soft-loud formular gets too overused to become exciting. Do you know some more interesting releases in this style?

Well ya Isis plays off the "post-rock" thing so i wouldn't categorize it as exciting anyways. Oceanic is a better album by them in my opinion. Also Through Silver in Blood (Neurosis) and Wake/Lift (Rosetta) are really great sludge metal releases. Mastodon is maybe a good choice for more "exciting" music.
